The real truth is that there are a lot of middle/upper middle class boring people who love their Japanese-brand cars and have a religious-level faith in said cars.

It probably had a big chip or pitting first. That’s where just about all windshield cracks start, regardless of temperature. Even a tiny little nick the size of a pen tip.. :/ I’ve had to explain that to many new car owners over the years; People who couldn’t fathom how their new car had a cracked windshield…
