I am not from the area, but my spouse was born and partly raised in NY. He still has family in the area, and we visit every few years. I’ll never forget going to the Met for the first time with his uncle, and his uncle saying “Fuck if I pay $25" and then he slapped $1 on the counter. Then he winked at us as we went

“I’d like to drop my trousers to the Queen - every sensible child will know what this means. The poor and the needy are selfish and greedy on her terms.”

Thank you for this headline. I just finished this episode last night, and that’s all I could think - he’s the worst. I also think Margaret is selfish as well. The two of them cause alot of drama, behaving as petulant children, as Elizabeth holds the entire monarchy on her shoulders. As a woman, she’s not allowed to

Hell to the yes. With good bourbon. In coffee. Or French toast soaked in it. (Although I am also dairy intolerant and now I mostly drink Soy Nog. But still counts).

I just watched The House on a 14 hour flight, and completely enjoyed it. I was trying not to laugh out loud. I felt like Ferrell was doing his Stepbrothers character, which is one of my favorite comedies. I also really enjoy all the actors in it. So I didn’t think it was as bad as to put it on a worst list.

Ughhhh this one really sucks. I’ve met Franken (before he ran for office), and he was one of the nicest celebrities/comedians I had ever met. Not at all smug or elitist or smarmy or awkward or weird. I’ve only met one other comedian who was nice as him.

Pizza Hut has the best tasting chemicals of all the pizza chains. (Not even joking, it’s my favorite cheap pizza.)

I read this article yesterday as well, and there was a line about how even though these guys live in “liberal” parts of the country, they are still worried. Like, there is no sexism in the blue states at all.

Came here to mention Only the Lonely. I loved that movie as a kid (I am a big fan of John Candy). I rewatched it recently, and while a bit sappy and kinda unbelievable, still really enjoyed this film. She was a big part of my childhood with The Parent Trap as well.

I’ve read blind gossip websites forever and after the park mugging story came out years ago, I remember telling one of my work friends about it. She got really pissed off at me because she just thought Spacey was just closeted, his privacy should be respected, and I tried to argue there have been rumors about

FWIW, I’ve read that Cohen really pissed off Joan Rivers, and Joan and Kathy were tight. Kathy is getting ready to unleash some shit about Cohen, especially now that he got her NYE gig, and I’m sure he doesn’t want that dirty laundry coming out.

It’s ruined Edelweiss for me, which means Sound of Music has been ruined for me as well.

YES I can never understand the mumbly words on that one. Also reminds me of that Portlandia skit making fun of all the theme songs that sound alike.

I thought even Dan Harmon said he hated the theme and regretted it.

My partner and I looove singing that dumb song as loud as we can and we also try to hold some of the notes as long as possible. It truly is an annoying song and the first one that came to mind. It’s also sounds like a horrible Spoon rip-off.

Came here to post this. I still quote this line all the time.

I liked the HBO channels as well, including “HBO Arliss - For People Who Want To Kill Themselves.” And, HBO Corbin Bernsen (they used to show The Dentist alot).

I've seen Superchunk 6 times, including 2 Mergefests. I think Sleater-Kinney and Decemberists are a close second with 4 or 5 shows.

I saw Frank Black perform solo at a pizzeria about 10 years ago in Salem, OR. He apparently knew the owner and was using the space to practice before traveling to Europe. It was the most surreal experience.
