My father-in-law was a NYPD officer. Sweetest guy ever, but even he had enough of other NY cops being corrupted and ended up retiring early. But personal anecdotes aside, cops are not like everyone else because they hold power in society, and so they will be held to higher accountability. They need to understand that.
