Oh, I was as well. The Thousand Year Door is one of my all time favourite Mario games. To its credit, Paper Jam does ameliorate its own issues; it gives you hints for the bosses, and the difficulty can be adjusted on the fly if you need it.
Ugh, fake GBA games on eBay are the frigging worst. Best way to avoid fakes (if you didn’t already know) is to google the code on the label and compare the artwork against the right one for your region somewhere online. Price and product description are another great indicator; if it’s a rare game and suspiciously…
Ugh, I wanted to get on with Paper Jam but my playthrough ground to a halt about halfway through. The problem is that Paper Mario is a pain in the neck for the most part; another character to jump over something, and another character to protect during battles (and really, his attacks don’t drastically help you in…
The Steam version is probably going to be better. de Blob was let down by its pointless waggle controls on Wii. It was a pretty fun little platformer, though, and I’m glad it lives on.
Just what I was about to say! Except with Micro Maniacs instead of Machines. And that game was a hot pile of frustration almost from the start.
I find it hard to get worked up over a game that has a talking gorilla as a playable character. Not to mention Lucio just overflowing with positive energy. ...Overwatch doesn’t exactly fit the mould of online FPS, does it?
I’m not fashion-conscious on any level, but I’ve spent more time than I care to admit dressing up my characters in video games. I’ve gone through dozens of outfit combinations in GTA and I’ve spent at least twice as much time making characters in Modnation Racers and LittleBigPlanet as opposed to, you know, playing…
They benefit from having novelty on their side, as well as a cast of characters people actually want to play as. Lego Marvel is pretty good in that regard as well.
Setting aside the control stick durability it’s kind of inspired but also really clunky in practice. Having to hold the controller in that weird asymmetrical way for most games is just boggling. It’s uncomfortable and unnatural, and I considered buying an N64 controller for my Wii before realising the Classic…
They released some Rayman GBA games on Wii U? I hope Rayman 3 was one of them; that game is fantastic.
Hopefully the battery life’s a little better on this one.
I love that Carmen Sandiego is still considered a viable thing to make a show about, even if it’s probably playing to nostalgia from people like me on the most part. Still, it’ll always hold a special place in my heart thanks to the 1999 PC game. I mean, just look at the opening sequence!
Much as I loved the era of Broderbund, Encarta and Dorling Kindersley, I just don’t think there’s the same demand for those games any more. Considering how well that whole Internet thing took off and all.
Why does it matter if it’s cross-posted to Kotaku? Is it coming at the expense of other games coverage? Have you considered that maybe there’s enough of an overlap between Kotaku’s audience and this story to warrant publishing it?
But if this is such a basic (and important) lesson to learn, then why is the episode so cloak-and-dagger about it? Why aren’t we allowed to hear what Joy is saying if it’s something as simple as Stoutland getting old? Why does a professor- a person who exists to facilitate education and understanding- throw up…
You say that this episode subtly and artfully deals with death and grief, but... does it? I mean, based on what this article says we aren’t given any clear idea of what (if anything) Stoutland is suffering from, and the whole concept of death is brushed aside (I’d expect a frigging Pokemon professor to at least try…
It only really works for me if there’s a piece in the bag with a really specific shape, like the skirt piece. And even then 9 times out of 10 it’s a crapshoot. The best approach is either be prepared to pay a bit more online or not care too much about what you get... and even if you get duplicates the pieces can turn…
This looks like a pretty good collection of games on the go. I’d love a comparison between this game and the standalone Mario golf/tennis 3DS games, though.
The collectible minifigures from Lego are ridiculously easy to open; it’s not even funny. I don’t what witchcraft they used on the Mixel bags, but they were a bitch to open. Scissors or nothing.
