I’m with you. I will add that the Super Mario series is something I’ve enjoyed for almost my entire life. At the same time, I honestly couldn’t give less of a shit who voices Mario in a movie, and I have zero interest in seeing said movie.

This is why I’m glad Bill Watterson was so against merchandising and TV/movie rights for Calvin and Hobbes. The original on Wii U is literally my favorite Mario game. I say this as an older gamer who has been here since the NES days. It’s the perfect mix of tight “2D” linear game design, with the more open movement of a 3D Mario title.

Or it’s just based on a real cactus.
