For me at least use tax is assessed at the state level, but local/county doesn’t require it for consumer goods. My total state use tax = 4%, local sales tax (inclusive of state taxes) = 8.45%. So on a $1500 tv that’s $67 savings. Not a huge deal, but covers cost of a mount & cables, plus free home delivery is more

That’s not the 4K resolution (most content isn’t even broadcast in 4K yet); it’s the motion-smoothing feature that actually is the worst and makes everything look like a soap opera.

Who the hell goes to Best Buy to get a TV? There is absolutely no reason to look at tvs in person, because a) the stores turn up the brightness + contrast to +1,000,000, and b) you are not a better judge of television quality than the smart folks on the world wide web. With that in mind:

Jewish dentists can be pretty crazy as well.

ah, whoops. I searched the page for “Neal” but now realized only the book titles are searchable text.

Surprised that there isn’t any Neal Stephenson on the list. I’d probably put Anathem or The Diamond Age on there.

As someone who visited Arizona a few times this summer for work, I’ll gladly deal with winter to not have to put up with the blazing hellfire that you call summer.

Well that was awesome.

I’m a fan of Mackenzie Davis for the role. She’s awesome in Half and Catch Fire, where she’s already proven that she can go toe to toe with Ronan the Accuser.

+1 for Ecobee3. I spent a while researching smart thermostats, and I don’t really see you could go for a Nest over an Ecobee unless you live in a one floor apt that has pretty consistent temps in all rooms (which obviously a lot of people do).

Coors averages over 31,000 fans a game, and there are 81 home games a year, so considering that there are 2.5 million visits annually, it’s not surprising that it gets the most posts.

Clif Shot Blocks, Honey Stinger Chews and Honey Stinger ‘Waffles’ are about the only energy food I can stomach for running.

Costco pizza is so damn greasy.

Just pre-ordered it. Finally a phone to replace my 1st-gen Moto X (ie not huge, high-end specs, and reasonably-priced off-contract).

Netflix doesn’t play off your phone - the Chromecast itself does the streaming. Your phone is just used to select something to play and then act as a remote, which uses very little battery. I have a PS3 and Chromecast hooked up to a tv and I never use the PS3 for Netflix anymore.

I still use my point and shoot for travel and things like hiking. Especially for long hiking trips, I don’t want to drain my smartphone using the camera. When wearing gloves it’s much more convenient to use a camera w/ a physical shutter button, and it’s easier to take pictures one-handed w/ a compact camera than a

They even have the Barber twins doing an Draftkings infomercial.

If you like smoky Scotch, I’d recommend Corsair Triple Smoke out of Tennessee. Might not technically a single malt, but it’s malt whisky smoked with peat, cherry wood, and beechwood. So much smoke!

You order the discounted membership as a gift to yourself, and set the delivery date for the day (or day before) your current membership expires. You’ll then get an email on that day with the “gift,” so it’ll be hard to forget to use it in time.

If they close the loophole they’ll apply a gift card worth the amount paid to your account, so you won’t be out any $$.
