“But it turns out that what Lima was actually saluting wasn’t a fitness center—because gyms do not have elaborate hand signals and howls

“I think you misunderstood. The last 3 months have erased the last 3 years of growth. Or is 3 years too short of a timeframe as well?”

A 1.5% loan is about the rate of inflation. So in reality if you finance a car on a 5 yr loan at that rate, and don’t even invest it, at the worst you’re coming out about even. Money today is worth more than money in the future.

Because you can get a Prius for $22k (and the compact one for <$20k). The cars you mentioned start over $30k (granted, you can get a tax credit for plug ins).

Wow, “gay” as an insult. Glad to know we have middle-schoolers from the 1990’s commenting.

Sadly they don’t make them anymore though, so really tough to find these days. I was lucky to buy one of their budget plasmas a couple years ago for cheap for my basement setup ... it rivals my more expensive LED int he living room in terms of pure picture quality.

Yea they are becoming a thing of the past. I have a Samsung 4500-series budget plasma, and it is legit in terms of picture quality. It’s only 720p, and only has 2 HDMI inputs, but was dirt cheap (I got my 43” for $350 a couple years ago), and make for an awesome 2nd TV, basement TV (isn’t great in a bright room), etc.

I really love Showalter’s Regan. The jelly beans sealed it.

That’s what he gets for wearing cargo shorts.

“Telluride, Colorado isn’t a tech startup hub. It’s not a manufacturing center. It’s a destination for sportsmen and women like the hundreds of Jeep people who visit every year, spend money on food and fuel and trinkets, and along with the ski resorts have kept the town prosperous after the precious metal mining scene

What are you basing that on? They’re typically regarded as one of the best streaming devices. Personally, I bought a refurb Roku 4 years ago and have never had anything go wrong with it.

I just like the interface better (or maybe I’m just used to it since I’ve been using Thinkpads for 9 year!), so it’s probably more of a personal preference thing. Functionality is probably about the same. That’s why I don’t mind that they bundle it w/ their hardware, but it is definitely not ok that they make it so

I actually like a lot of the included Thinkpad “bloatware” and use it instead of their Windows counterparts (network utility, power manager, etc.). That being said, if someone goes through the effort to do a clean install they shouldn’t have to deal with this shit.

I learned when I was 22 because my company’s automatic truck was stolen and they ended up replacing it w/ a 5-speed Dodge Dakota. So I had to learn that stick fast! Sadly in the last 10 yrs (don’t work there anymore) I haven’t made much of an effort to keep up on my manual driving skills.

I was wondering what you do when you desperately have to take a shit, but you’re with your kids in a public area?”

Some schools are $60K/yr (when you include room & board) and will be a lot more when my kid is 18. If they end up getting into and decide that a school like that is best for them, there is no way they can foot that bill themselves, so yea, if I have the means I will help them out as much as I can. Sure they can take

Do they also censor guy’s bloody nipples during marathons?

Roth IRAs have much lower annual contribution limits ($5500 vs $14000) and also have a lower income cutoff - contributions to Roths start getting phased out at $183,000 for married couples, whereas I don’t think there are income limits for participating in most 529s. And also in a lot of states you get to deduct 529

Average annual private college tuition + fees + room/board = ~$42K x 4 years = $168,000. which is about half the limit, so your characterization of the limit being ~10x that of tuition is off. And if you factor that college tuition grows at a much higher rate than inflation, that $300k will not even cover 4 yrs of
