High up front cost + high per-cup cost, and the cheaper methods make better coffee. Plus it's a pain if you have people over and want to make a bunch of coffee at once.

True, unless you're getting a cheaper model, which is unfortunate. We wanted a cheap tv for our basement, so got a "dumb" 43" Samsung plasma for $400, which is a better deal smart LEDs or plasmas w/ similar quality panels.

True, that does add some value (~$120 if you bought 6x more glasses for the Panasonic), but thinking how often I'd realistically watch 3D content compared to how often I'd 2D content, I'd be more concerned w/ getting the most bang for my buck w/ the 2D picture, for which the plasma wins in a landslide.

Still on, and season 3 was great. Most of the shows I watch are so tense and go at a breakneck pace, it's nice to have a show like Treme that shuffles along, letting you just enjoy the characters (and the music, of course).

Not an app, but Google for finding recipes, and a "recipes" folder in my my Chrome bookmarks works well for me, as it'll sync between my computer and mobile devices.

Pinkman GIF Party!!!!

The Americans (you should give it another chance, it finished really strong) and Orphan Black are up there for me. Top of the Lake was pretty good as well.

We often split wedding gifts with friends, and I'd say average $40-$50 per person. You're fine.

This week on "Weather-App Hoarders"

If Chrome supports the video format, you can just drag and drop the file to your browser, then cast that tab.

Yahoo Weather for Android. Clean interface, runs lean, and has a nice 1×1 widget so I can see how goddamn hot it is right now at a glance.

Yea I figured a lot of people have ripped their disc collections, in that case Plex is definitely a great tool.

Damn, that is a rip off, I feel your pain!

Only if you get the ones that come prepackaged in a little bag of 2 for like $5. If you can find a grocery store that sells them bulk, they're usually pretty reasonable.

Out of curiosity, where do you get all the media you have stored locally? I still store all my music locally (and on Google Play), but I find streaming to be much more convenient for tv/movies.

Also - shallots. Use them. From Anthony Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential:
