Fuck no

Nah — some things can just end. No Season 2. No explanations (and definitely no walking back the finale). Just let it be what it was and be done. The critical and commercial success, however, will push them to run it back for a second go. It *could* work, but I remain doubtful.
Jesus. Thanks for the reminder.
The first season was one of the best arguments for weekly drops as opposed to the “dropping it all at once” model IMO, because it not only let so many viewers get on board, I was genuinely anticipating the final episode, days out. And then for that last half of the episode to just... go there. *chef’s kiss*
I dunno, in my opinion he was corpsing a bit too much in the 2000s.
The authors are right about Samberg’s impact on how audiences interacted with SNL, and the Lonely Island digital shorts are all so delightfully unhinged that they stand up to some of the show’s all-time best filmed work. He wasn’t great in sketches but that’s not what he was really there for.
Bobby Moynihan and Kenan Thompson are two that just have never once cracked me up. I realize humor is subjective but Kenan just always feels to me like he’s mugging for the camera and playing it like he’s reading his lines for the first time. Moynihan just seems to only have one register and that’s loud and bug-eyed.
Get a The Room, you two.
This is so lazy and fatalist, good art is everywhere all the time
I am super excited* about this; it’s one of my favorite books.
Yeah, I commented on the larger thread above, but I listened during the Amber Heard trial. It’s not shocking, but still disparaging to see the similarities and that nobody believes a woman of DV until she is dead (and even then the system might fail you like with Nicole).
your incuriosity is so incisive and charming!
I was an undergrad when Late Night with Conan O’Brien started (1993) and was thus just exactly the right audience for his brand of talk-show. His kind of absurdity and self-deprecation was always right in my wheelhouse. He has continued to be exactly who he is and I respect him mightily for that. Oh, and Jimmy Fallon…
As a lifelong class clown, I have to bow down to Conan for this magnum opus of adhering to the bit!!!!
Comedians are almost always the best guests because, as much as I do not blame him for riding this hot wing loaded train, Sean Evans is not a good interviewer for this setting. He’s too dry and only has chemistry with the bigger personalities that chemistry with everyone.
Had an exchange with someone on another thread about this very topic - there was a BOOK article yesterday! I hesitate to become optimistic given the protracted trends but can’t really help myself.
i am so glad that the a.v. club is actually back to doing regular coverage of offbeat stuff like this. dare we hope the Paste purchase will actually prove a good thing?
I can’t think of two entertainers more committed to the concept of performance, I feel this is going to be rad.
Nebraska is a great album. White is a solid choice. I have zero interest in this.
Ayo Edebiri as Courtney Cox! And the dancing lasts 2o minutes!
