Well there’s an issue. You said “that if society quit finding rape titillating (ew) and started treating it as a disgusting crime rape rates would go way down.” That’s what the framing of “rape culture” is about. It doesn’t let people off the hook for their actions. In fact it says everyone can easily contribute via

Interesting. I read the Time article you linked to that was written by the researchers. They clearly laid out the flaws, as well as the strengths (which there were some) of their study, and in no way is it comparable to something pulled from thin air. God, learn to understand research methods before you go making

I’ve never admitted this out loud, but here we go Jezzies.

Oh, yes. Yes, of course.

Right, because those guys would have believed in rape culture if Rolling Stone hadn’t been discredit. Some of the creepiest people are the ones who deny rape and rape culture are a problem. Because the only motivation to dismiss rape culture, is that they are hiding something about themselves or someone they know.

And, with that, I’m impressed any woman EVER goes to the authorities. Why? So she can get humiliated? I’ve know many, many women who have been raped. I don’t know a single one who has ever gone to the cops about it. I certainly haven’t (and I’m not sorry).

I have come to the conclusion that men who go out of their way to insist that rape culture doesn’t exist have probably raped someone.

My daughter was gang-raped at her school last year and I’ll take every opportunity to tell parents:

"I don't understand why women just don't TELL men they aren't interested."

You do realize that doesn't contradict anything I said, right?

Hey Russ, did you show up here expressly to get punched in the face by someone in possession of actual facts?

Oh, that tired old bullshit.

Other people have already pointed out why her joke his different from his assholery, so I'll just say this: Not-perfect people still don't deserve to be hurt. Even if she was a total asshole, Shaffir's bit was still cruel and not okay. Her behavior is completely separate issue, and does not excuse any harassment or

I'm guessing you have no understanding of nuance or the ability to detect it in humour.....

Yeah, Ari Shaffir called this lady out by her first and last name on a publicized special on Comedy Central, calling her annoying and smelly while making fun of her disability. She made a joke about a dude with a small dick surrounded by self-deprecating humor. Not even close to the same.

Jokes about an unnamed man's small dicks =/= rambling on/joking about a named woman for having a "fat smell," belly fold, and one arm.

I'm gonna have to disagree. The douche identified her by first and last name on national television and was intensely vitriolic.

I'm explaining the widespread impulse, and it's root cause. I would venture exactly none of these guys know why they do the things they do.

Yeah, I hate it when men take an interest in womens' issues and publicly decry violence against women. It's the worst.
