I was a police officer from 2001-2003. This oops conversation recorded here is tame compared to some of the things that I heard at work. A raunchy work atmosphere is for some reason condoned in law enforcement circles. As a woman, I felt pressured to laugh at the blatant sexist and disgusting dialogue that took place

“is misogynistic in and of itself, is it?”

How do you think they talk about women the women who work in their department? I can’t imagine it’s any better.

“I felt incredulous that people who are in uniform, on the job, and trusted with protecting the public could express so much contempt for women,” she said. “The misogyny is horrifyingly casual. How can such attitudes not affect their police work?

So you think that they might not talk like this about other women, like, I don’t know, maybe rape victims? Objectify one, objectify them all, right? But if it’s in private, albeit on the job, then it’s totally cool and will not affect their treatment of women. /s

What planet are you living on?

Who pissed in your coffee? They were on the clock (not to mention law enforcement) so this shouldn’t be tolerated.

“Private time” is when they are drinking a beer at the bar after work, not in an office when they are earning tax-payer’s money. Also this feeds into the culture of mysogony at male-dominated work places in general. What if there was a woman in that office and has to hear those jackasses every day? I worked on a

You know that just having sexualized conversation with another coworker about this woman is sexual harrassment right? As a government employee who has had to take approximately 1,000 sexual harrassment training courses, by talking about this woman’s body in a sexualized way, they are violating sexual harrassment

If you’re on the work clock, it’s not private time. Doesn’t matter if you’re in the work bathroom, debating what size a coworker or work associate’s boobs or dicks are is not appropriate on the work clock.

It also wasn’t some random woman. They were police offers and she was working with them to get information for something she was reporting on. Cops and reporters interact all the time. She was kind of a colleague.

“How they’re grown over there. I don’t know why.”

White guy has far more respect/love for dogs than women. Startling.

It’s misogynistic based on the blatant fact that they are sexualizing her and making assumptions about her based solely on appearances.

I choose to believe that the baby talk was not directed at a dog, but at the unidentified officer, with whom Farnam has a very weird relationship.
