I don’t get the blanket outrage for people being landlords.

I mean I am in that camp ideologically and I still think this is dumb as hell.

Yeah I thought that was really weird to have here. They took the step when so many corporate landlords aren’t doing shit.  Like why are they being called out here?

This happened to me once. I was really struggling, so taking my daughter out and spending $40 at TGIFridays was a big deal. Then the waitress came up and said someone had paid, they wanted to be anonymous, and would we like dessert?

Thanks for saying this, and I’m so sorry for your suffering. Being “seen” like that, even in such a small way, was pivotal for me to see myself anew and to recognize that what I’d habituated myself to accept wasn’t okay. (The way you describe it is spot-on.) It took a long time (and I have to continue to work) but I

Thank you for sharing this, and for paying it forward. Your story brought back a lot of memories about living with abuse (both in childhood, and years of horrific domestic abuse later on). I’m sorry you suffered, and I hope you’re in a better place today. When you’re in it, pain can feel normal, and it feels normal to

My friend asked me to let her dog out as she was newly living alone and had a long shift scheduled at work. I stopped by her place right after I got done at work to let the dog out. We were sniffing around the courtyard at her apartment complex when a dog without a leash ran up to us. I tried to call to the dog and

Hey Pumpkin, are you doing ok? You’ve been on my mind all week. I’m really sorry about all the stress you’re under right now. Just wanted to let you know I’ve been thinking of you.❤️

I saved a 3-year-old from drowning at the Jersey shore last year.

I was at work one day, in the summer. I was talk to a visitor outside at one of our buildings. There were wasps flying around, and we were generally trying to avoid them, but it was difficult.

This same thing happened to me in France. My bank couldn’t figure out why the ATMs kept declining my requests. My dad was able to wire me money eventually, and at some point, my card randomly started working. It was terrifying to be stuck with no money, though.

A long time ago I was in Morocco at a summer study program in a small town. Inexplicably after over a month of being there, my debit card froze and I couldn’t get any cash for weeks. My bank’s website said there were no bank branches in the country, so I couldn’t figure out how to unfreeze the account. I called the

Pulling me out of two feet of water when i was drowning when I was a little girl on vacation with my asshole family at the Jersey shore.

I was in college and the hard drive of my fancy black MacBook gave out. I had saved a ton of money between graduation and college so I could buy it. My family isn’t poor, but I knew they wouldn’t have the discretionary budget on-hand to do anything about this, so I never told them.

This is such a small thing, but it still sits with me. About 20 years ago, I was flying home with my garbage boyfriend after I’d brought him to meet my family for the first time at Thanksgiving. I now realize it was an emotionally and verbally abusive relationship, but at the time I just suffered constantly. On the

So this isn’t my story, but a reminder that people out there are thinking about the less fortunate.

Not me but something my mother did:
I lived in a remote spot of California growing up. One day on the way to school, we saw the neighbor who lived in the “weird” house walking to town with a suitcase, her dog, and a puffy, red face. Without hesitation, my mom whipped the car over, sternly said “Keep walking, I’m coming

A few weeks ago, my husband and I were on vacation in the USVI. It was our last day and we found out that our flight was delayed so we hung around by the ferry dock to get a bite to eat rather than rush to the tiny airport to just sit there. What we didn’t realize was that we had been on the last ferry of the day, so

I got in a minor fender bender (A guy ran into the back of my car in a parking lot and then tried to gaslight me into not taking his insurance and said that “my parents would probably be upset if they found out I was in an accident.... bitch please with that condescension... you. hit. me. ) Anyways, I got his info and

I was going to post about how my former in-laws bought me a car, but this is about strangers doing something nice, so...
