Huh, weird! Maybe it had to do with the clinic I went to...they don’t take insurance (ugh) and everything was pretty pricey there. But man, it would have been worth the extra money to not bleed for weeks afterwards.

I’m in Ohio, where it’s really tough to get an abortion, and we still have the medical option. I didn’t realize it wasn’t available everywhere else! The only reason I opted for the surgical procedure instead was to avoid the extra week of bleeding afterwards, and to get it over with quicker.
Oh fuck. I STUDIED that book, and since I was already awkward and insecure, not dating seemed like a beautiful option. Smash cut to me losing my virginity at 20.5 to a friend because I just wanted to get it over with, and wasted so much time pining for guys in highschool but not dating them because of my Commitment to…
Your post hits home for me. My parents are very culturally religious, but not Evangelical. They sent me to an Evangelical school for K-12 and I don’t think they knew how indoctrinated I would get going there.
Oh man. I was a wee child of 9 during that season, but I am still over here snort-laughing, hearing David’s voice and remembering that scene.
Love the shout-out to Madame CJ Walker. Not since that weird flashback episode of Sister, Sister have I heard her mentioned.
Sometimes those problems don’t show up until the person, well, dies. Shortly after high school I lost a friend who was just 26. She had no health problems as a kid, ran cross country, and was generally healthy. She had chest pains for a few days and then just died. During the autopsy the doctors found her heart was…
Adding some more ammo to the family...
Yup. As soon as I saw those Roman numerals, his actions made that much more sense.
+1 for the perfect use of chicanery. I can’t think of a better way to describe this practice.
She’s living my best life. Also, rent Obvious Child. It’s a wonderful movie, she is heartfelt and funny, and has the most kick-ass wardrobe I’ve seen in a movie lately!
And her little arc in 3o Rock! I like that she has a sense of humor about herself. Surprising comedic chops.
I think he was perfect (and eerily prescient) in Ferris Bueller.
Same. For some reason I thought she was closer to my age (29), and he just gives off an Older Dude vibe.
I do have a thing for ugly-hot guys, but of all heights. Don’t know what it is about them...
“I’m just a simple country law-yer, but...”
A treasonous loser at that! This cognitive dissonance is (one of) the things that kills me about these folks: you can’t be pro-America but still carrying a torch for the folks that tried to secede from it and flip things all around.
Huh. I (lightskinned black woman) am driving down to Cville with my (Jewish) boyfriend on Friday for a wedding. Can we still get those Green Books or nah?
I found it unintentionally humanizing. Like, he was a good sport about realizing how much of a shit he was.
It sounds like a real life version of The Black Crusaders, only benevolent.
