They both concern greed and gaudiness, yes. But the two movies are as similar as Remains of the Day and …well, a fucking Michael Bay movie.

Holy shit, he really dropped the mic on that. Hope his other reviews are good, he likes Crash (the good one) which I hated at 12 but loved at 17, so that's promising.
On a gutpunch of a series where you can see the fist coming, it was nice at the very end: Bailey's friend, Robert Shapiro testified against him.
just shut the fuck up!
Read Marvel growing up. Didn't respect medium until I read Persepolis and American Splendor. Went through all the top 50 "best lists" and after Watchmen, DKR was obvious next "superhero" book. I read about a dozen Batman books and DKR was my favorite of them. I'm still very ignorant of superhero books though. Been 5…
Dated tech? All movies featuring technology of any kind are dated. The only time that doesn't quite happen is in films set in the future like a 2001 or Children of Men. Having ridiculous technology portrayed as accurate for the period like Lawnmower Man and Hackers dates a movie. Having too cheesy special effects like…
/Did you bring a horse for me?
//Looks like we're shy one horse.
/You brought two too many.
No one else at all concerned about the obvious murder shed this thing was built in?
Joffrey equally shitty as the Hound? Take it back!
what about the time I chipped my tooth on the urinal. what the FUCK is so comical about that?!
remember in the comics, daredevil had a heightened sense of smell, not supernatural like Wolverine.
Was fun for Jimmy and Kim to make up and make cute. Kinda like the condemned's last meal before hangman. This show has got to go dark real soon. Obviously Jimmy isn't crushed by BB's start, but unless they pull off a Nacho and Giselle romantic getaway (how that's ok for Jimmy?) it's gonna be a hell of a downer. Maybe…
I think the grades are representative for a prestige HBO, big budget, all-star cast show. This ain't network TV. The music alone is worth the viewing. Yeah, it's lead character and put upon wife are a drag, but it's still high quality TV and worth watching.
what the hell is a tiki man? maori? i thought it was a pueblo indian doll. now who's the racist!?
Trilogy of Terror. Karen Black attacked by minority doll!
Haven't seen it in 20+ years, but the silo suffocation death has always beguiled me. How exactly was that guy supposed to die? I don't know anything about silos, but for the life of me, 8 year old me couldn't figure out how that (offscreen) death was supposed to occur. 32 year old me is clueless as well.
Tina finally confronting Christy? Thought it was the other way around. Tina is having Larry David-level embarrassment. Allison Williams character on Girls could be a younger version of her.
killing of chinese bookie my cassavetes favorite.
bizarre description of in a lonely place. i think ray's best, of many excellent, if eccentric for the time, films. absolutely soul-crushingly depressing movie. and yes, one of bogart's best.
how in the shit has a movie that's regularly been listed in every "cult/trash movies worth seeing" book for 40 years not yet available? i've been waiting 20 years to see it, but don't want to see a bastardized copy. its got drunk of all charismatic drunks, ollie fucking reed! blasphemy! exclamation points;
