I think writers and producers would do well to tailor the length of the series to fit the material.  The old Marvel Netflix series always had a problem where they’d hit a climax around Episode 6, then fumble about for another 3-5 episodes in search of a real ending.  

The success of The Mandalorian and Andor would be arguments against the thesis of this article. It isn’t about the franchise belonging in one story format or the other, it’s about that story itself. 

I find this show inconsistent, but not overall bad. The highs are quite high, especially Episode 5. But the lows are quite dreary, particularly Episode 3 and 7 (the flashback episodes). I feel like the story and concept is solid, but the execution is uneven.

Well, nothing in that trailer made me laugh. However, it did make me want to watch the original again. There’s something “Grimm’s fairytale” about the original that is both a kid adventure and yet too freaky as hell that is not somewhat a kids movie.

I can imagine the aliens getting increasingly frustrated that they keep having to kill the same cat over and over.

I don’t want to spoil anything but at the same time... nine lives, baby!
