There are a couple problems with your argument here. You are again equating the AI with a person. “It’s stealing”, for example. The lawsuits being filed in the matter are targeted at the creators of the model, not the model itself.

“All this FUD about how AIs are trained on art without permission (even though this is something human artists do all the time)...” I’ve seen a variant of this argument used in almost every discussion of this kind. It always seems to miss the distinction that the AI is not human, and thus that its a false equivalency.

I think the euphemism has its origins in Japanese Idol groups. That particular industry’s focus on younger talent often necessitated that the actors change careers / agencies after they “aged out” of the group. From wikipedia, “

From the linked The Verge article, which I alluded to in my original comment (https://www.theverge.com/2023/2/28/23614043/final-fantasy-xvi-demo-hands-on-ps5)

Insanity is sometimes popularly defined as repeating the same action over and over and expecting different results. If the comment in the article was accurate (who knows given the vagaries of translation and context), the trajectory of the current approach isn’t meeting their expectations, yet they seemingly continue

I imagine they have metrics to back up their design shifts, but I can’t help but wonder at their strategy here. One of the linked articles has Yoshida mentioning that fans are distancing themselves from the franchise as it’s gone on, which seems to coincide with its move away from traditional JRPG mechanics in favor

“Bringing about The Collapse was super easy... barely an inconvenience...”

Something about the eyes just prevents me from taking smoky goth Megamind seriously.

I think the ruling seems reasonable, though I wonder about potential unexpected consequences. Namely, could bad actors challenge the copyright of non-ai generated works, so long as the original author had no documentation of the process behind the work’s creation?

It will be interesting to see if ruling also applies to

I just want the long teased comic cliff hanger to be resolved!

A correction: “

But will they finally release the last comic?

Done at scale though, that effectively “breaks” internet monetization for producing text content (and thus the incentive for producing / hosting that content), which would mean that there should be quite a few interested / potentially harmed parties with highly paid lawyers. It will be interesting to see how that pans

I wonder if we’ll see something similar for chatbot-gpt. I’ve been hearing increasing rumblings of integrating it with / replacing search (Bing, for example). But the downside of doing it, of course, is that then users won’t visit the pages it scraped its source texts from, which would directly deprive them of

A savvy company might take the opportunity to put the DLC on sale, considering it’s buy now or never... Doesn’t seem to be the case, just putting it out there. The licensing fee they pay on their end may make it cost prohibitive, one imagines.
I actually picked this one up, since it felt like DropMix, but without the

I don’t know that it much matters, but your comment about Font Mission 1 coming to North America by way of a PS1 port made me curious. Looking it up on Wikipedia (hardly a definitive source), it seems that the PS1 port was Japan exclusive, though the US did get the Nintendo DS release. It’s certainly possible that

I scrolled into the comments expecting the Futurama “I’m shocked” meme, and I am disappointed.
...Unless of course I missed it, in which case I’m unobservant.

I’ve got a few “favorite franchises” that I’ll pay launch price for, maybe even spring for the special edition. Everything else... I’ll just wait.

Don’t get me wrong, I think the Jumi questline was my favorite part of Legend of Mana, but I can’t help but think it’s pretty wild that it’s getting an anime adaptation like... 20+ years later.

Nvidia can set the MSRP of their products to anything they like, of course.
