As someone who doesn’t plan to get any cosmetic “help” as I age (no judgment I just don’t like things that hurt) I applaud him for showing us what a 56-7 year old face looks like. 57 years hot.

People will say anything about her, and other people will believe it.

Seriously I am so over these people and their moral purity. I want to shake them. Even if they’re privileged enough that for practical purposes Trump and Clinton would have equivalent impacts on their lives, the same is not true for vulnerable populations, especially immigrants and refugees.

I was like oh shit let me go check on my own face real quick...

I feel like this is the first time I’ve seen Colin Firth in a while and I’m alarmed that he looks so much older. I mean he is still a handsome man.

Wow you have a lot of anger towards women. What is it that you’d have me do once I grow this pair of balls? I not you have offered zero suggestions other than that someone (me?) “handle” this “problem.” You haven’t identified how you define the problem or what you think handling it will entail.

If you answer to the general question I was answering is “nothing” because you’ve decided that you know a lot about this individual perpetrator and the way he was treated in the cultures in which he’s situated, then I don’t find your contribution helpful. Nobody, including me, said this is THE solution that will

I am a white person and I will admit that I too had a non-reaction to this costume at first sight.

Of course. But failing to take reasonable measures that will predictably prevent these attacks is stupid as hell. And no, this isn’t analogous to “victim blaming” because I’m not putting an onus on individual victims, nor do I think any of them deserve what happened. What happened was awful, but unfortunately

Yes, I am speaking in a general sense. I was answering a general question.

Hey, the question I responded to was about what we can do to prevent things like this. We can’t necessarily control some things, but we can limit how much we fan the flames of extremism with our own fear-based, reactive behaviors.

Thanks for chiming in. My hometown (mid-size) had this problem, as does the major city I now live in. It’s really palpable and as sad as things like this are, and inexcusable, I can see how they happen. And how young, impulsive people of any background are so vulnerable to being radicalized.

I mean I think it’s even funnier when people think the only solution to social problems is to arm themselves to the gills, abandon the principles their country was founded on while they proclaim to be “patriots,” and live their lives in fear of the terrifying “other.”

I was replying to another commenter, who asked about how things like this can be prevented. In many cases the people who are most vulnerable to radicalization young and have a profound sense of alienation. There are programs in Europe that have proven combating alienation in certain populations curbs their

I mean we could work on not alienating people within our own country based on their cultural/ethnic/religious identities. It won’t 100% prevent things like this but it might make people less vulnerable to being radicalized or whatever. We’re currently not doing a great job of being inclusive at all. the discourse

true, obviously. It was a joke response. but calling their bluff would point a finger directly at their bias. I think there would be a benefit.

OOF how shitty. That is shady ass behavior. I’m sorry you’re going through it and that he’s trying to double down on the shadiness.

What people? I would really love to know what category of people you mean.

I wish she would write the same paper and demand for they publish a response (since they opened the debate) that includes a graphic description of chunky period discharge.

I mean yeah if you’re going to engage in political conversations centered around reproductive biology, its not a bad idea to have a grasp on the basics.
