I’m surprised this strategy wasn’t on the list: break down larger goals into smaller tasks, and establish a reward system - in other words, turn long-term goals into short-term goals, and find some way to get that short-term reward, which will motivate you to pursue the next goal and reward.

It sounds to me like it fills a need for game developers who couldn’t get their work published on Steam - but as a consumer, I’m already on Steam, and there are more weird/indie/experimental games than I know what to do with. Best of luck to Itch, and maybe they will grab a corner of a niche market, all I’m saying is,

That’s completely beside my point. This site covers a subset of a market that Steam already covers. Like if I invented a site that’s “like Facebook but only for Danish people”, or “like Soundcloud but only for country music” - those markets are already nicely covered by existing services, and nobody is going to care.

In other words, it's like Steam. There's plenty of indie and experimental games on Steam - in fact, it's already the most prominent platform for that. There's even an area where you can vote on new games and concept demos and provide the developers with feedback on their ideas. I don't know why we need another site
