This isn’t really a nightmare unless you live in Australia, where everything is already a nightmare 24/7.

I haven’t seen a Cage movie since Kick-Ass and I hope to keep up this momentum of not seeing Cage movies.

Though I’ve never heard of Mac Miller, the Avicii death hit me hard. His music is so joyous and fun, and to realize that he was personally in a dark enough place to take his own life is really tragic.

I love Kyle MacLachlan, but Twin Peaks did him no favors. “Stand around acting comatose for 15 episodes” does not make for a thrilling Emmy reel.

Sam Esmail should win a Directing Emmy for the marvelous single-take episode of Mr. Robot, but they failed to nominate him and picked two blue-filtered Ozark episodes instead.

Calm down and put the pitchfork away, Karen.

Our society has an alarming inability to forgive anyone who once had any sort of sexual misconduct. It doesn’t matter if you serve your time, make amends, apologize to your victims, etc. The internet never forgets.

I think that’s the one thing keeping me on Twitter: it’s the one place connecting me to writers I like who publish interesting content, i.e. all the great AV Club writers of yore who have scattered to the winds. I’d never remember to check out their work if they didn’t tweet about it. Otherwise the entire platform is

I’m feeling pretty Metroidvania’d out. We need more indie developers whose concept is more than an exact clone of this game you loved 30 years ago.

Except then you have to sit through The Meg, so I’m not sure this is something to brag about.

I’d be fine if all indie films and documentaries came to VOD. But I definitely don’t want to see Infinity War or Mission Impossible: Fallout at home for the first time. The theater was made for giant spectacles like that.

You don’t get on the freeway going the wrong way at over 100 MPH as a mistake.

Now this insufferable person wants to get on Ellen or Jimmy Fallon for her tweet thread. We gotta have higher “great job, Internet” standards!

Damn, Katie Rife has to do double duty as a film critic now too? Soon the 3 remaining staffers at The AV Club will each be doing ten jobs in an attempt to stave off the Univision-pocalypse.

I have a friend who swears up and down that this is the best Thor movie. He also hates Ragnarok because, by being funny and entertaining, it doesn’t fit the tone of the first two Thor movies. I’ve repeatedly told him he’s an insane person but it hasn’t helped.

I was hoping season 4 would premiere soon. Learning it hasn’t even started filming makes me sad.

Nah, USA pre-Mr Robot was an extremely dire wasteland of interchangeable procedurals. Even after Mr Robot they still have crap like Suits, but they’ve also tried interesting failures like Colony and that Wet Dreams show. The Sinner is excellent, and The Purge is looking good. They’ve definitely turned a corner.

The trailers for this have been pretty broad and terrible, so I’m glad to hear it’s actually good. I was worried about Jon “Jem & the Holograms” Chu directing.

Wow, I was so overwhelmed by the awfulness of Suicide Squad that I forgot he directed Bright.

We really need to stop allowing David Ayer to direct things.
