Gross. There’s no reason to reshoot anything. Simply recast him without an in-universe explanation like they did for Hulk and War Machine.

Somehow I’ve been on Twitter for over a decade (depressing, I know) and had never heard of this guy until after Elon took over. Still a fascinating read.
To be fair, the Fox News crowd was already going to complain about this diverse vision of The Little Mermaid. The lyric changes just add fuel to the fire. Mostly I hope the film bombs because it looks awful.
I for one am shocked that an Adam Sandler sequel made for Netflix is terrible. Who could have seen this coming?!
It’s not “racism”, it’s just that old Academy trend of wanting to give someone a career achievement award for a role that didn’t deserve it. Happens every single year. That also would have been the case if Angela Bassett won for her role that didn’t deserve a win.
Ah yes, how dare Kimmel make an Irish fighting joke, something no one has ever done before and will surely never do again.
AI and War of the Worlds are great films.
Because Fitzcarraldo is considered one of Herzog’s best films and doesn’t fit the criteria.
Confirmed: every movie has at least one defender.
It takes a lot to get me to sit through a Netflix movie, so I’ll definitely be skipping this despite enjoying Landon’s Happy Death Day series.
I’ve rarely noped out of an article after one sentence, but claiming The Whale One is the best Star Trek movie already let me know this article is completely useless.
A child will never be called fat or ugly again now that these changes have been made. Thank you so much, Dahl estate!
It’s not about “tradition”, it’s about not editing books that were written decades ago to reflect the current time. Seems pretty simple to me. Kids can and should read modern books that reflect our modern sensibilities instead.
Hate to break it to you, but a New York Times op-ed hardly matters either. If angry folks online didn’t needlessly amplify the article well beyond NY Times subscribers, it would have died a quiet death like it deserved.
I understand the desire to update these stories so a new generation of kids aren’t reading about harmful stereotypes, but editing a dead author’s work is extremely gross and sets a terrible precedent. I don’t need “updated language” when I read an older book. Erasing the sins of the past is also a good way to avoid…
Yeah, all those queer people speaking up and fighting for their rights…bleh! Don’t want any of that! /s
The hatred for the ending of Game of Thrones (and Lost, and Battlestar Galactica, and…) has always been extremely overblown. People need to go outside more.
So fed up you gotta pre-order those tickets for the Rotten Ant-Man movie?
When we’re talking superhero fatigue, I think what we’re really talking about is bad movie fatigue. It’ll catch up to the MCU eventually, just like every other franchise in history that didn’t know when to end.
I think Feige deserves the credit he gets. All Disney cares about is the financials, and Feige has built a franchise with 30+ movies that have been financially successful. That’s unheard of in Hollywood history.
