And those same people who are telling minorities that they’re being “too sensitive” and to shut up and take a joke will, 50 years down the line looking back at the comedy of today, be the ones saying “It was a different time, there’s no way we could have known!” It’s the same old story.

Who’s saying anything about being “destroyed mentally”? It’s not that extreme. And words don’t need a harmful intention to be harmful. Are cars driven without harmful intent unable to hit and injure people?

It’s a similar argument to why people think judging the South for having slavery is wrong because it was a different time and people didn’t know better! ignoring, of course, that there were still abolitionists so they could have known better. Also, there were millions of enslaved people who probably thought it was

One of these men is black in word and deed...I’ll leave you to figure out which.

tl;dr

Ahh yes the old “This isn’t the place for it” argument...a game where a masked vigilante daily interacts with police isn’t the place.

Then that’s a criticism of the story they chose to tell. I think one that paid more than lip service to the fact that Spider-man was helping the NYPD set up a surveillance state would have been more interesting than the “cops good, bad guys bad” portrayal that we got.

I don’t have that much of an issue with how the game portrays the police, even if I’m a bit disappointed it largely punted on the subject, giving only one actual example of police being corrupt (and even then, in a cartoonish “actually working for the villain” example), and largely leaving any other conflict with

More importantly, what would that have added to the story the game is telling?

Hey dude, when a racist asshole is in the Aryan brotherhood, does the Hitler Salute unironically, and has swastikas tattooed to their freaking face (or anywhere, really), the term “Nazi” isn’t used to “denigrate a culture or group.” That’s just calling them what they actually are.

You think IMWITHKAP is a group in solidarity with Kap about potato salad seasoning or something? Its pretty obvious what that phrase is regarding. He also spoke openly about Broken Windows policing which contributes to the school to prison pipeline.

Listen no one is saying this man is a saint but give the guy his due.

Would you rather that police depts. be completely filled with racist assholes who abuse their power? Or do you want people who are attempting to effect change join the force? Should he have not spoken up?

Maybe, maybe not.

“You don’t call me out like that on national television,” Caputo said.

Gotta love Toobin’s rhetorical deftness, which somehow got Caputo to nod in agreement that Trump and Republicans writ large support rapists.

Ben who? I really hope you're not from the future.

Looks like he’s a lifelong Rep. Only changing parties for election purposes only.

As a black New-Jersian I am happy to see him go. I am also realistic about the fact that there are dozens more like him who remain in their cushy jobs.

Yeah, but just wait until he tries to enroll his kid in a different school district to get them a better education. THEN they’re really gonna get him!

Like response times in poor areas aren’t already shit. I am okay with fining/charging people over bullshit. But, poor people have legitimate emergencies and shouldn’t have to suffer any more for them financially than they already do.
