So you can make calls out using your primary phone number but it’s done through Hangouts? People can call your primary number and in comes in through Hangouts? Because nothing you just described supports that. I have the same thing setup and it explicitly says “Using your Google Voice number” in Hangouts Dialer.

Unless you’re in the extremely small minority with GV as your primary number then this is pointless to compare. Plenty of VOIP services exist that do what Hangouts does.
