Given that Stannis also has cultivated and been maintaining those of the North who swore to him - that the context and execution and circumstance of his death will be wildly different in the books.

It's like we're expecting consistency or something in our fantasy tv show…
But it doesn't. It makes no sense. It's all plot beats without the connective tissue that gives it significance.
OMG! A long overwrought post discussing the books vs show in the "Experts" (ie. bookreader) comment section! Inconceivable!
Keep in mind, this is the same season where we had a scene in which Stannis reaffirmed his relationship with Shireen, and one/two episodes later? Burns her within less than 24 hours of "bad news."
Again, if the show did this, I'd get it. The show hasn't done this, in my opinion.
Jeyne Poole mattered because no one cared about her. That was the point. She had no name, no real value other than a pantomime Stark. And that's the tragedy. And we still got more information about her experiences, her feelings, her emotions, that was given Sansa Stark.
Hi again! Let's get this out of the way. You think I'm a dumb bitch / daft cow with no ground to stand on, and that the show is perfect in every way and all their decisions are justified and an improvement on the original.
Are you being serious? Did we watch the same show?
Hear fucking hear!
It's so weird. Dorne had set up, but that set up went nowhere, because we never got enough time to actually have Dorne mean anything to the viewers.
A shitty finale.
There hasn't been. Myrcella hasn't been a character at all ever. We had half a scene and a few lines with her this season.
I'm surprised your reaction was so positive, Cabs. Mine was the inverse, though I agree with the pacing comment.
It's like…they mentioned all the tension in Winterfell and the North…and then, not really?
Yup. It's a clue.
He was just so important to the narrative. I never saw it coming! Not like when they cut to him again….and again….and again.
Well put. He came down with a case of stupid for the sake of the plot-itis.
The reviewer talks a lot about trust. I don't trust this show, and I still don't trust this show.
Keep the shittiest finale of the shittiest season of Game of Thrones out of here! Blue Rose, I thought you were above that.
