Totally its valid to have the idea that it shouldn't be any statement when a diverse character picks up a mantle from a white character.

I understand where your coming from. But I implore you to widen your scope a bit, and read up some on the Falcon's arrival in comic effected the black community and black readers. I would say Miles Morales is different case because he wasn't a hero before he picked up the mantel.
I'm going to cross apply a post I used earlier. I'm sorry you were so offended by my statement. But I do honestly believe that her outfit has some problematic elements
Yes. And thank you for asking in a genuine way
I am sensing a feeling dismissal from your response. Which you are more than able to dismiss my claims. However I think for the benefits of discussion, I don't think you read anything above before developing your outlook on my post.
I just want to say I respect your view point, and I am trying to see from your point of view as I read your comment. I really just want to stress the implications of making is Falcon history secondary will damage the the impact that the Sam Wilson as the Falcon on Black History in relation to comics. But once again I…
I assume your trolling me. But if you aren't and you are being genuine then I apologize for that assumption.
I totally agree that a woman can wear what she wants.
I understand where it may seem that him being Caps "sidekick" seems like something little. But I would argue that he was Caps partner. He was generally written well enough that he didn't seem like a yes man, and was his own character. I also want to stress the literal introduction and progression of the Falcon are…
I think you have a very valid point, but I will disagree because I think they have been plenty of critically acclaimed newer characters that have had their momentum dropped because the larger comic company doesn't want to be paying royalities to new creators. The discussion of successful new characters kinda rolls…
I actually shared that sentiment for a second. Then I thought about how Dick Grayson worked some much better as Nightwing, and how his run as Batman kinda cheaped his character a bit. But still that idea is total valid, and I would just like to see Marvel do it in a way that doesn't feel like a marketing strategy
I agree that minimum efforts have been made at times. But also the industry as whole needs to make a effort to get readers from all backgrounds feeling comfortable in comics. Once again I point to the success of Ms.Marvel. Furthermore look at Static Shock at DC.
Totally I understand were your coming from. I apologize if my language may have over generalized the implications.
Falcon is one of the first black superheroes to rise to prominence in comics. He had his own identity, his own history, and more importantly was his own hero. By making him the new Captain America they are negating that. They are overshadowing his accomplishments as a original black hero. Now in pop culture he just…
I find it interesting when White people place judgement on situations of race. News flash White America, racial slurs can provoke people to physical altercations, especially during a adrenaline filled Basketball game.

I would really like to see the people behind SIMPLE.
I really appreciated this article for several reasons. First because I find discussions of appropriation of culture fascinating. And second I find the approach slightly problematic from an "artistic" point of view. Lastly I find it problematic for the black community progressing past steretotypes.
