I must respectfully disagree with your wish to see the Packers make the playoffs, for it would come at the expense of the Lions. Pitiful though their history has been, I'm enjoying this unexpected Cardiac Cats season.

My grandfather served in WWII with a Major Major Major Major.
I was watching that game mentioned at the start of the column, and in addition to that nuts call, the Refs were throwing flags the whole game. Luckily, for once, the refs screwed the other team and not the Lions. It just sucks in any sport to see the refs play such an outsized role in the outcome.
It's times like this I wish they used toilet paper for book pages. Soft, luxurious toilet paper.
Thanks for the reply, it has satiated my curiosity on the matter. The Pats are a friggen machine with Belichick and Brady, and they are the envy of the NFL.
I'm gonna have to dig up the Sports Illustrated issue that profiled him about a year or two ago. Dude was one resilient man, would go from treatment to covering a game. May he Rest In Peace.
You bring up Belichicks ruthlessness with getting rid of players, and as Pats fan you could answer this question: Do you think he cuts Gronk loose with his injury history? I asked this of another person over on B&T, and maybe it's a silly question, but I was curious what a Pats fan thought?
I always felt Miseducation was like To Kill a Mockingbird in that it was that artists only work (Go Set a Watchman and Lauryn Hill's work with The Fugees not withstanding.) that really said what they each wanted to say so perfectly that any attempt at a followup would only diminish the previous work. As far as I'm…
If I Didn't Care
As a University of Michigan Football fan, I'd like to thank Jed York for making Harbaugh possible.
Do you think Belichick trades him after this season? With as much as he's been injured and as much value as he still has, it seems very Belichickean to sell high and replace him with Bennet.
Fuck Rick Pitino.
Ah yes, Rod Marinelli and his emphasis on pad level and nepotism. I still remember that 4-0 preseason, thinking it was going to be a decent year……While I am normally inclined to agree and partake in your disdain for Cleveland (by extension Ohio) I still wouldn't wish it 0-16 on my worst enemy. I don't mind being…
If it wasn't for the Lions I probably wouldn't watch Pro football. I've always said it'll pay off being a Lions fan, eventually, even if I'm a disembodied head in a jar a la Futurama.
Look, how am I supposed to get my hopes crushed if I don't allow the Lions to sucker me into believing they can win?
Even though I have mostly negative feelings for Cleveland and the state of Ohio in general, that shared futility does bind us all. All three though suck in different ways, but the feeling is the same.
Hey, the more the merrier! Thank you for the sentiment! (Whenever I use multiple exclamation points I always think of Elaine and Jake Jarmel in Seinfeld. **end random tangent**)
Thanks, it sure would be nice, if not bittersweet considering Calvin Johnson retired last year and now they decide to win a division. Still hard to fathom we had the best running back ad wide receiver of their respective generations and only got one playoff win and one division title.
I read what you're writing, and it's the exact same thing I'm thinking. It's perfectly logical for them to win the division, but it's the Lions. It's like Lucy with the football. Either way, in spite of my misgivings and history, I'm gonna hope and dare to dream that they can actually do it. True, I'm setting myself…
With a team like the Lions, you have to be a little screwy and enjoy pain to keep on coming back year after year. The thing is they manage to disappoint in new and inventive ways, which I guess is part of the appeal.
