@Charlotte Corday: they also require corporate boards (and i think the parliament?) must be 40 percent female. at least. in a way, you could say that's a form of affirmative action, but then it's consistently rated one of the best places in the world for women to live, so....

i stand by my choice: Phelps FTW! and that "goofy face" is waaaay hot.

another norwegian anecdote: so an acquaintance of mine who is still in school here was diagnosed with cancer. the norwegian government sends him a considerable amount of money every month to cover his rent, food, general living expenses. also, obviously, his health care needs are also taken care of. since he can

cabbage and beets in the crisper

and then maybe the next cycle will allow for girls with short legs? ah, to have mile-long gazelle legs...

@mollybee: where i live in western norway, the girls generally top out at about five foot six. there are occasional anomalies, but that's pretty typical.

@ilovedexter: this is what i'm saying! it's only fair for the ladies to get in some objectification, too.

@rocknrollunicorn: word - what is this "only from the neck down" business?? i love how his ears kinda stick out, i think it's cute. and he has this great little-boy smile. and points for the bulldog!

@MilointheMeadow: and telling my mom was downright mortifying. i pretty much started crying out of embarrassment, which is crazy because she's a nursing professor focused on women's health!

@Klobasa, Esq: me too - and immediately it occurred to my twelve-year-old, in a kind of horror, "oh my god... i have to deal with this bullshit for the next. forty. years."

does it boggle anyone else that it's the year 2008 and Science has just now figured this out?

i read about this in a psychology mag, and was really disappointed because i only stop the pill four times a year, so does that mean i'm pretty much doomed?? but it clears up my skin!! and kinda kills my libido.. well, that or the antidepressant..

"we don't seem to have focused much on love. On the easy, natural bliss that can come from two people connecting in a unique way. Not codependence, not socio-economic symbiosis. Love. Are some people just cut out to be in love?"

@cocobanal: i pretty much stopped washing my face altogether, except after i get out of the shower it tends to be a little dry so i use some of the aforementioned Rose cream - seriously, my acne cleared up almost overnight and at 26, my skin has never looked so good.

Tom Ridge?? ewwwwww...

i cut my own long hair about three times a year, stopped washing my face (and whaddayknow, my skin cleared up), pluck my own brows as needed, use an electric shaver to shave my legs (because my skin is crazy sensitive).

man, this makes me want to start riding again. YES, i was one of those little girls obsessed with horses. but there is no more exhilarating feeling, and riding got me through a bit of a nervous breakdown, mmkay?

"mom, stop it, you're starting to embarrass me. i'm serious - you're creating a scene!"

@TheVaginaWig: i like her shoes too. yeah, that's right - I Like Clunky Shoes!
