I dunno; this one’s more likely to turn heads, and the cost of ownership would be just this side of zero.

At that price you get something that looks and drives like a real speedster, but that you’d be able to mod or just drive the piss out of like the originals were designed to be, without having to worry about harming your $100k+ car. I’d say NP.

I had a college roommate who was restoring a REAL Speedster as a DD (this was quite awhile ago) and lusted after that thing, but I was a dirt-poor college student and could barely afford the Triumph Bonneville I rode.

I understand the manual sentiment, but I can tell you that there is still a lot of fun to be had in the auto Miata, and I’m really glad they offer one so I can enjoy it.  I can’t use the pedals. I have to drive with only my hands, but the car still puts a huge smile on my face.

I wish more NAs had been sold with automatics. In general, the automatic cars saw more time in the garage, less time in the snow, and overall have less rust as a consequence.
