The part where he stated he felt the need to say why because if he didn’t, the internet would’ve created its own narratives (JUSTICE LEAGUE IS A MESS HE GOT FIRED!!!) is sad. Can the internet stop its irrational hatred of him now?

Don’t even think about making that comment. Don’t.
I’ll bet Edwards made this movie what it should have been: a rogue team of bandits successfully steals the Death Star plans and gets them off to Leia yet before reaching safety gets wholesale slaughtered by Vader.
I think the last time I enjoyed an old man kicking so much ass was Liam Neeson in Taken, and then Morgan Freeman in RED (he pulled a Sean Connery cold blooded kill on a guy who came to kill him).
Except that the DC model was pushed in their Cartoons and it worked JUST FINE. You had a Batman cartoon, you had a Superman Cartoon — and aside from 1 episode with the Flash (where you learn nothing other than “he’s the flash and can run really fast”), you didn’t meet the rest of the Justice League UNTIL Justice…
Cool. I like that they are giving the directors some leeway, especially after some got scared away from marvel for those reasons. (Specifically Patty Jenkins. She was supposed to do Thor 2.)
