Thanks for this article. I’m a pastor (of more of the brick and mortar type of congregation). I totally appreciate the challenges of always being “on” as a pastor, and trying to balance being just “me” or “pastor me.”
I just had a very similar thing happened to me and my iPhone 7. I had a small crack on the bottom of the screen, no big deal, I was gonna put up with it. However all of a sudden I stopped receiving service to Verizon. I look and I see that there is actually a service program to replace the logic board in my phone for…
Some systems can turn I believe. But there is a lot of things still to keep in mind. A lot can go wrong— planters can get jammed, maybe there’s rocks your trees you need to dodge. Also, you’re driving a $150,000+ machine with a $50,000+ planter seeding thousands upon thousands of dollars of crops. You really don’t…
Farm kid here. Farming is tough work, but farmer do it because they love it. Video games like farming simulator is fun, but you should check out the awesome toys farmers buy their kids. We have an awesome set of toy tractors, wagons, and combines.
I have two angles in which I come to this conversation. One is as a gun owner and another is as a pastor. I have owned my own shotgun since I was 12 (Remington 870 Magnum 20 gauge) and I bought a rifle when I was 19 or so (a Mosen Nagant M38). Both I have used for hunting. I remember that after taking hunter’s safety…
I too wonder about Campo Santo’s precedent they may be starting. Will this lead to other companies banning someone from steaming because they don’t like them? I’m a pastor- what if I streamed a game and made some religous commentary and they didn’t like it? Does the company need to list why they are taking something…
I have an odd feeling that someday a new civilization will read these columns and think to itself, “Yup. Western civilization was doomed.”
Jesus juke: Chip and Joanna Gaines are totally aliens on this world
Feels a little strange having a scathing rebuke of “playing nazi soldier” from someone in the industry which sells an awful lot of games playing war, killing innocents in GTA, or invents imaginary religious cults to dehumanize them enough to make killing them acceptable.
What kind of diversity does your staff have? Race, gender, poltical views, religious beliefs?
I’m a rural Baptist pastor. Who’s my character to play? I’m more than just a “white guy.” I’m being a bit sarcastic, but even in search for “diversity” we often still clump people into stereotypes. It’s neat to see games add more races and people groups to their games, but in my opinion they have a long ways to go to…
I haven’t played the game yet, but I grew up on a farm and occasionally come back to help out with the harvest. It’s surprisingly awesome driving a huge piece of equipment at 5 mph. Kids love going for rides that are hours long.
You guys don’t seem to shy aware from controversial topics-- ever though about having someone post theological commentary about different video games?
You know how there’s a subset of gamers who give this community a bad rap for everything from homosexual slurs on Xbox live to doxing women in the games industry?
The bible includes a lot of stories that portray people making poor decisions.
Nope. I’m most comfortable with the Bible as it was written. Who would do the revising anyways? Slave owners in the 1700's? Sex traffickers of today? Maybe strike off the “love your enemies” or that every person has the image of God imprinted on him or her?
I’m with you that Christlike behavior regarding sexuality has a lot to do with the integrity one makes to their sexual partner. It’s a covenant— and I believe that you make the marriage covenant exclusive and for life.
I know, right?
He does indeed.
