Last time I was in Chicago, I had two consecutive Uber drivers cancel on me (first asshole charged me a $5 cancellation fee even after I texted him my exact location and he still drove the opposite way for 10 minutes).

Because the light turns yellow, and 2-3 more cars come through in the opposite direction, and once the light’s been red for two seconds and cross traffic starts moving on their green light, you’re stuck where you are and everyone behind you wants to kill you.

Spillback refers to traffic in the street you’re turning INTO being full and not allowing you to clear the intersection after making the turn.

My experience in 25 years of driving is that 90% of people give zero fucks about the cars behind them. They want to get through the intersection, but don’t care if anyone behind them makes it or not.
