If you want to make a complex situation (why do Republican voters vote against their own self-interests?) into a simple one, the usual suspect is white evangelical Protestant-ism. Democratic and Republican voters (and politicians) have all kinds of opinions about faith but white evangelical Protestants are almost all

I marvel at how, so far, none of the big carbon industrial giants who intentionally mislead the public about climate change have faced any kind of actual consequence for lying to the public.

For the wealthy, the potential severity of global climate change (particularly if it gets into a +6°C kind of scenario) might be worrisome but it’s probably not catastrophic. “Storm surges are dramatically worse” is bad for the plebes but not as big of a concern for the wealthy. They can afford to move in-land, or to

Two of the jobs that Jon Kyl had before he was a US Senator were ... being a US Representative and being a lobbyist (although based out of Phoenix, not DC).

Every one of the media outlets that spread this story as written should be ashamed of themselves for spreading inhumane propaganda.

I very much hope that this scenario does not happen, but I am also very aware that it might. Good luck to all of us in surviving whichever scenario ends up happening.

Hi how’s it going. As a blog within the Gizmodo Media Group, you share ad revenue with other blogs within the GMG. That means that linking to them gives them clicks, which in turn gives your parent company money, which in turns help them be able to pay you. One of those blogs is named Kotaku and they’ve written fairly

This is fairly monstrous, so it sounds like something that Donald Trump would be okay with.

Young people are rash and ignorant, but that can be an asset when it’s time to do things that are hard.

It is somewhat astounding that the US has never had a military coup in its history.

In a democracy as intentionally misinformed as that of the United States there are unfortunately going to be a lot of voters who are compelled to vote for bad reasons. It has nothing in particular to do with brain ‘power’ (since smart and not-as-smart people both can fail at critical thinking) and everything to do

Donald Trump? Being rude to a woman? Inconceivable!

Wait

I understand, as a fellow fan of facts, that it’s very frustrating to watch Trump doublespeak in real time. I look forward to the end of this national gaslighting campaign.

Oh it’s slightly more problematic than that. US elections are generally ran/managed/organized at the county level. Both state and federal election results are patched together from what individual counties report. The election crisis that occurred in Florida during the 2000 POTUS election partially happened because

Unlike previous administrations, the Trump administration decided to keep national parks open to visitors during the shutdown, despite insufficient staffing.

I agree, the massive amount of voter disenfranchisement in Florida makes it appear as if the state’s population is much more conservative than it actually is.

I think multiple election events in Florida over the past 2 decades have more-than-explicitly shown that election results in Florida are not representative of the actual intended votes of Florida’s voters.

So, can we talk about impeachment yet?
