As much as I like him and all the good he’s done, I kinda resent Jon Stewart for his screed against Deep Dish Pizza, and fanning the flames of a pizza turf war. Aren’t we divided enough already? I will concede that it’s not “real” pizza, or it’s a casserole. Whatever you want to call it, it’s delicious.

Xiao long bao will always be my favorite, but there’s something about the the sweet and savory, crispy/chewy combination in ham sui gao that’s irresistible to me. I hope these get covered in another installment.

Layna was giving off big creepy Momo vibes

5th Avenue bars are criminally underrated, and increasingly hard to find.

Eek! The Cat did a superb parody of Apocalypse Now. And it also introduced me to Sgt Pepper, before I even knew what it was.

That’s peculiar, considering how many of their iconic dishes originated from other countries (see Christmas Cake, KFC above). I had to google it, but there’s even a name for it: Yoshoku.  Curry, tonkatsu, omurice, hamburg steak. Not to mention their take on pastas. Perhaps once it’s been adapted to Japanese taste,

South Bay=Redondo Beach ish

Blue Bayou.  It’s still there. Never eaten there but always envious when our boat “sails” by it during the ride.

I’ve had a bottle of Chartreuse for what seems like forever. Aside from a Green Ghost, I dunno what else to do with it.

Where in the world is grape jelly a standard sauce ingredient? No judgement, genuinely curious. Is that regular in the Midwest?

And my axe.

Disappointed that Bob’s Big Boy Ranch, in the glass jar, didn’t make the cut. That’s the one I grew up on, and figured it was available everywhere.

The Iron Giant was referenced in the book, but I think it was used partly as a one-two punch with the Gundam to replace Ultra Man, whom they had trouble getting the rights to (Two different companies claim ownership, and couldn’t settle on ownership, despite all parties wanting Ultra Man involved).

With wrist bullets?

KYSR 98.7 in LA. It’s an iheart station though so, ehhh.

This a million times.

They’re down the street from me. Long Beach is not suffering from a lack of breakfast joints, we’ll be just fine.

Crime mockumentary American Vandal perhaps?

The Friends theme was sung at my high school graduation. Even then it felt dated, and still shames me to think back on it.

I’d bet on Curlz MT for maximum ‘zazz, but Bank Gothic seems more likely.
