There certainly is a rigged game though, we have to recognize that. However the “social justice” promoters don’t aim to move to the freer markets that would allow people not to be poor, they aim to make more poor people whom they would have power over.

Ever notice that these slow drivers in a 50mph will speed up or go the same speed through the 25-35mph sections?

It’s a shame you can’t recognize patterns in control systems in your big city. I’ve been recognizing them and playing appropriately for them in Chicago and suburbs for two decades. Most traffic lights for most of the day are fixed timings or sensor driven timings.

I think they are told to write in a manner that sets people off.

Proper acceleration (not even exceeding the PSL) can add up to ten minutes quick. It’s how to tie green signals together. It’s the difference bewteen sitting through three red signals at an intersection or only one or none.

The most frustrating drive of my life was returning home after driving in Germany. I had lost all patience for american drivers in a mere 10 days away from them. 

I more need acceleration. With proper acceleration I can go from green signal to green signal. Rarely would that involve going over the PSL. However thanks to the ‘leave early’ types who do 15-20mph under and accelerate like there is an egg under the pedal......

You’re making the same argument as every slow driver and speed kills believer: “just leave earlier”. Some just take it further than others.

I’m in the Chicago area. Practically nobody drives the PSL on the expressways. I-294 speeds have crept back up to 80-85mph but the speed kills types got 26 over as up to 6 months in jail but then double crossed and blocked the PSL from going back to the 1950s level of 70mph. As a result it has become rather unpleasant …

A civilized speed limit is ~80mph or higher. (used in some of those european countries we are constantly being told to emulate)  The NMSL was 55mph. For a 60 mile trip the difference is over 20 minutes.

A civilized speed limit would save me 30-40 minutes on my one interstate round trip a week. I’ve driven it at the 55mph PSL on roads that were 70mph PSL when they opened in the 1950s and 1960s.
