For this discussion I barely remember, the remark was not about a slippery slope but rather the goal of the people in question. I used to frequent the websites of “new urbanists” (where this ‘vision-zero’ and such comes from) and their goal of ending personal private mobility was quite clear.

Chicago has a grid system

“The wagon doesn’t sell because people aren’t going to pay full retail and put up with the dealer’s shit.”

When marketing does this sort of thing all I can think of there is an internal battle and someone who said it won’t sell is in charge of or has some power over selling it and has no incentive to sell it. Thus he

There are semi-custom bikes too. Made in finer frame sizes, etc. The $2500 price is roughly what those would cost for something like this.

Who’s going to hand build these? HD’s prototype shop with well paid machinists and such or one of the numerous custom bicycle builders?

CAFE, safety regs, and everything else that eliminated domestically made small trucks will prevent any imported small trucks from being offered or offered at reasonable prices.

Real free trade? Come on now. Nobody wants that except those libertarians and everyone knows they are kooks.

Big retailers will sometimes have a separate company owned by the same parent that owns all the buildings and real estate. So I don’t think it is uncommon to lease a custom built building from an unrelated company either. The way the tax law is written I believe encourages these arrangements.

My guess is if Ford uses

People are griping about the price, but if you price out a hand made custom or semi-custom steel frame cruiser you’re looking at $2.5-3K anyway. So let’s say Harley went to a custom bike builder. They charged H-D $3000, now HD adds some margin and some HD logo’d parts and there you go.

It was simple back then... There was the 3 speed with some kind of hub gear ratio changing device. Then the five speed with a rear derailleur only. Then the ten speed with two chain rings up front and front and rear derailleurs. And if you were really fancy you had six gears in back and had 12 speeds.

Triples are

“11. They are referred to as 11 speed. When talking about bike speeds, you only count the rear cassette.”

Crossovers are essentially 1940s cars.
Maybe Ford can make some that look like this:

The owners of the building didn’t protect that clock, this guy did. He held on to it for a couple decades, that’s not some thief looking for a profit. A couple days after Ford announces it will restore/renovate the building he gives them the clock because it ‘wants to go home’.

Sometimes that’s the only way things

The problem with the minispare is that you shouldn’t drive on it for weeks on end. You should stay under 50mph,. You have to deal with the tire problem pretty much immediately. With a real tire well, tire issues are most often when I can get to it.

“it’s part of the Air Force”

My Brembo ‘12 came without a spare. In forums I found an 18" wheel and tire combo that would clear the calipers. It’s a real wheel and tire, just smaller than stock. Raises the truck floor board slightly. My other cars all have full size spares with the same sacrifice of the trunk floor board sitting up a bit higher

In a tent outside?

Fairlane, Fairmont, Falcon, F-150,250,300,100,etc That’s all I can think of.

Missing options:

I’ve been arguing with less and less flack as it is proven true that systems which require a person pay attention but do things for him, encouraging him not to pay attention are fundamentally stupid and should have never passed through a design FMEA. Musk fanbois don’t quit though. good luck.

Probably not. The way teachers put it out in the media it is offensive that they pay anything to present value pensions in the millions. Meanwhile those of us in the productive sector have to actually save that money from their salaries minus the company match if there is one and then must gamble (stock market, etc)

“Keep in mind that only the Federal gov. is allowed to operate in the ever-deepening red.”
