Dumbasses love each other.

I liked your broad generalization there ;-)

Are you counting push starts? My ‘57 Chevy was a bear if you count that.

I don’t want to beat this one into the ground (we’re close). I was in a large city at the time and contacted a large number of dealers with the same result. Their complaint was that they couldn’t get parts. Nowadays just about any manufacturing business has to provide parts and support for a product for 5 years after

Too bad they didn’t even support them. After I found a mechanic that would work on it, sometimes it took weeks for him to find parts. That was unconscionable on the part of Buick/GM. And of course the Isuzu Opels were absolute junk. A few years of that REALLY killed off the line in the US.

I’m technically a senior. I drive an FR-S. Don’t want no damned Buick here.

History repeats itself. Had an Opel Manta back in the 70s (imported and sold by Buick). It was a fun and attractive little coupe. Buick dropped it and wouldn’t even service the things. That’s just one of the many reasons why GM is off my list forever.

So now New Mexico is west of Arizona? Did I miss a major earthquake?

I considered them both. Easy, since the same local dealer carries both brands (in two different sites). I’d have been happy with either, but I didn’t think the extras in the Subie were worth the price bump. So I bought the FR-S.

Love mine, whatever the name. Great balance, fun to drive, understated good looks. Not the fastest off the line, but serious fun in the canyons. My 2014 is better-looking than the picture of the new one, too.

Interior is the ugliest part. The butt-side view doesn’t do much for me either.

It’ll sure as hell deter his NEXT street race.

The clown is 35 years old. That’s well past the age that most people have developed some common sense. Three lives have been lost and many more (parents, friends, spouse) have been dreadfully damaged. The guy deserves to be hit as hard as the legal system can hit him.

Considered both, but liked the package and style of the FR-S a bit more. Would have been happy with either.

I’m way above that target age. I bought an FR-S because in my mind it was like an Austin Healy that actually works. That’s been a pretty accurate assessment.

Had a guy back in my old hometown who owned an Abarth Zagato (this was in the 60s). Cracked a block and couldn’t find a replacement, so he dropped in a small-block American V8. Took it out once and it scared the living daylights out of him. Steered about as well as a thrown brick. I don’t think he ever drove it again.

You’re all barking up the wrong tree.

Got one as well. Most Americans are used to torque at 1K, whereas the Toyobaru doesn’t really start grabbing until somewhere above 3K. So just wind it a little harder! Don’t know about you, but in my experience it’s quicker from 50-100 than it is 0-50.

>>btw - I drove a FRZ twin at altitude, it was awful.

Don’t miss the dimmer switch, but I had an old Opel with the windshield washer bulb on the floor. Step on the bulb and the fluid came out onto the windshield. The best thing was that you could twist the nozzle around so that it squirted forward. Stomp the bulb hard enough and you could soak people crossing at the
