I recall when the film ‘300' came out in 2006 super-fans would become angry if you’d point out the obvious, that the film’s subtext was mired in Iraq war paranoia. They’d yell beck “IT’S ONLY A MOVIE!” Something similar happens with ‘The Office’. Its almost impossible to tell fans the shows entire premise from the

The parts of the episode I liked most were when Rebecca wasn’t onscreen. Which, I suppose, is not the reaction they were shooting for.

Ugh, I’ve always hated extreme close-ups in movie theaters. It seems a lot of films these days were filmed for viewing on *tablet devices* and not movie theater screens.

In partial defense of Dunham, importing and redoing British comedies in the US has a VERY low batting average. Let’s also recall ‘Payne’, the attempted Americanization of ‘Faulty Towers’ back in 1999 that only lasted eight episodes. The combination of wanton cruelty and rigid class consciousness in British humor does

In hindsight this article turned out to be ironic. Because the SNL episode illustrated that maybe Chevy had a point after all.

So Miss America has suffered the same fate as Miss USA, hijacked by the reactionary right and governed by misogynist pricks incapable of self reflection. Time to take the concept of ‘beauty pageants’, put it in a burlap sack, and drown it in the river like blind puppies.

Excellent overview of the films but the headline seems out of place. The article never delved to WHY Hollywood keeps making this story. That article would have touched on Hollywood’s Narcissist gazing at its own reflection in the pond. In love with its own image, its own myth.

This episode had an odd effect on me. Halfway through I simply turned it off and did something else. Maybe I missed all the good stuff, but I must say I found myself genuinely not caring. That’s not something one should say 2nd episode into the 3rd season of a show.

Do not discount the herd instinct. People will love things they think they’re supposed to love, whether its old ‘I Love Lucy’ episodes or vacation trips to Disneyland. Free will is an illusion.

A couple articles ago I commented that the first time I had said I was becoming ‘superhero’d-out’ was back in 2006. Oh, that’s the same year this film was released.

Hah! Just glimpsing the headline I immediately thought “Piers Morgan”. And BOOM! I was spot on.

I’m trying to remember the first time I commented that I was ‘superhero’d-out’. It may have been in 2006, which was probably 60 superhero films ago (if you include the lesser titles).

A tale told against the backdrop of Trump’s stolen children concentration camps.

Didn’t you see his latest Tweet? He’s officially changed his name to UG or FQ, or something like that. He’s no longer officially named ‘Kayne West’ so you no long should feel obliged to ever put the name ‘Kayne West’ into a headline ever again.

In the opening sentence this article was framed up-front as “We know we shouldn’t be reporting on this but...”

The lineup of ‘classic’ DC (especially Batman) villians is pretty... lame. Nobody has dared give us Superman’s interactions with the Bizarro World yet, as far as I know.  The Supergirl series did take on Mister Mxyzptlk with only marginal success. So The Joker wins by default.

I’m not entirely sure how one would extrapolate ‘all ages entertainment’ out of a Hanna Barberra-style cartoon show involving a squirrel-based superhero.

I enjoyed the premiere more than I thought I would. All the things I DON’T like about the show are still there (the endless exposition in lieu of ACTING, for example) and I nearly gave up halfway through but it redeemed itself in the second half.

The Birdcage was a mediocre Hollywood remake of a better (less ‘Hollywood’) French film, though its difficult to comment on the details because I only saw the film once 39 years ago.

That certainly took a looooong time, didn’t it? How many years have we been hearing about this case? One gets the impression that they were hoping Cosby would simply die of old age so they wouldn’t be obliged to to deal with it anymore.
