Holy shit, we wrote this whole thing and none of us – not me, not the other writers, not anyone in the first several pages of comments — thought to say Bill Murray? The best possible answer to this question? Just shut down The A.V. Club. We don't deserve to have nice things. I'm hanging my head in shame at this

Oh, I wasn't sullying Kimmie's good name. The transgression I was implying was that the producers didn't give her an ex who was some obscure character from the original series, in keeping with the "bring back every single actor" philosophy they've been strictly adhering to so far.

Not sure why that got cut off. It should continue:

I don't think so. That name doesn't ring any bells. But I can't find the book on my bookshelves, and I don't see anything listed on Amazon that looks familiar.

These are terrific. I read a great book on the history of the subways years ago, and it had great stories about digging the river tunnels. Apparently, every tunnel under the Hudson went off without a hitch. But the much narrower East River had all sorts of problems – nearly every tunnel had at least one collapse

I'll do my best.

As I understand it, Lysenko believed you could change the offspring's DNA by influencing the parent. Which really sounds like a Wu-Tang-level insult: "I'm gonna beat you so hard your kids will have a limp!"

You know, it can be hard to find an appropriate image for a show that has no cast. I thought I'd give a glimpse of NBC's decision-making process, but I'm not sure that joke came across.

I've talked to the higher-ups about this guy today and in the past. As I'm not part of the staff, I don't feel comfortable going into detail about what efforts they've taken, but they're very aware of him.

I'm a freelancer for the site, so I'm not terribly comfortable speaking for AVC as a whole. But I do want you to know the people running the site have been making an effort to get rid of the troll permanently for some time. Unfortunately, it isn't easy to do. He's very good at popping up from a new address. But he's

We see the IP address every time we ban him. He's just able to come back from a different one every time, which is very difficult to defend against. I'm just a freelancer for the site, and I don't know all of it's inner workings, but I do know they've been trying hard to get rid of this guy permanently.

Ha. I love the answer to the Dr. Demento question. Going back up to the first part, one great thing about the indie rock era was that, if you had the means to print up enough records, and knew how to send them to the right places (college radio, record stores, influential zines), someone was going to notice.

That's why I finally broke down and decided to do pseudoscience — I keep brushing up against it, I may as well dive right in.

"Moondog is part of a long tradition of outsider musicians, as is Jandek, a mysterious man who since 1978 has released more than 70 albums of atonal folk music, but kept even the most basic details of his identity secret until 2004. We’ll take a listen next week."

If someone could produce verifiable evidence that the guy who was stabbed at Altamont had been shouting "Free Bird" through the whole show, the Hell's Angels would be hailed as heroes.

A good litmus test for reading anything about outsider music is, if the writer doesn't at least touch on the problematic nature of being entertained by Wesley Willis' schizophrenia, what you're reading is either going to be lightweight or insensitive. There's no easy answer to whether Willis' recording career was pure

I happened to be up late, and already banned his latest incarnation. I'm going to bed in a minute, but I'll check back in the morning and ban him again if necessary.

The most disturbing thing about that page is that Monica from Friends appears on it.

It's sad that I put this much thought in, but I considered both lists. But I couldn't find a decent resolution image of the one you link to.

It is at the center of all things. All links eventually lead to list of lists of lists.
