Yep the Klingon trial episode with the Duras ancestor basically was a deep dive into the fact Klingons had a very normal society with scholars and lawyers, and then the warriors took control and clamped down hard on the idea anything not directly about killing others and conquest made you weak.

We also saw (in Enterprise I think) that the Klingons kind of went down a dark path in a relatively short period of time and that warriors weren’t always the be all end all thing everyone in society wanted to be. Enterprise has a lot of issues but I kind of liked the idea that they used to be a more well rounded and

Trek gets much deserved criticism in general for defining its aliens with broad strokes. Klingons are honor-obsessed warriors, Romulans are sneaky, Ferengi are greedy, etc. But something that I think that sometimes is forgotten is that the TNG to Enterprise era also did a lot of work to muddy those waters and try to

Nah, Garak would not allow that to happen.  More likely the Cardies are simply rebuilding and we will see them in season 2.

I like them too, but things have to end eventually, and it’s better to do it while we all like them and want them to stay rather than being like “finally!” Besides, it’s not like they can’t do guest appearances in the future.

I would not be surprised if the current three companions do leave after this season, though I will be sad if they do as I like all of them, even the wildly underdeveloped Ryan.

I’m thinking that by the end of the season, all three companions will be gone and the Doctor will be on her own again. It’s very rare that a companion(s) lasts longer than two seasons (Amy/Rory and Clara being the obvious exceptions), at least in nuWho.

Any episode that takes a look at mental health and says that it okay to talk to someone, to go to therapy (as Ryan’s friend goes to group therapy in the end) is good in my book. Add in some creepy, trippy dream sequences and a whole lot more backstory for Yaz and damn, I loved this episode.

This episode really felt like two episodes mashed into one and it was worse for it. They really should have been teased apart into what would likely have been a more satisfying two-parter.

It was also a comedy and that scene was played for laughs. I see it more as a 23rd Century person not knowing how to swear in the 20th Century, sort of if you went back to the 17th Century you wouldn’t know how to swear or insult someone in that time period’s vernacular, thou mutton-scented tallow keech.

Eh, Kirk seemed to understand swearing perfectly. He was justa bit unfamiliar with some of the specific swears people used.

“A double dumbass on you!”

That video was a load of shit, but the worst part is, more time went into the creation of that video, than the thought process for writing a single episode of Picard.

I think it was just Spock who couldn't curse. McCoy would day Damn, and Kirk said hell and damn. I think it's definitely realistic that the crewman would swear everytime they had some new dumb adventure that resulted in longer shifts trying to stabilize the dilithium matrix, and there's no reason the admirals wouldn't

I’m pretty sure I had a Trapper Keeper of that Cheetah poster. But yes, I’m pretty pumped for WW84.

After having seen this today.... boy have I got mixed feelings about it. Let’s get this out of the way up front: it’s better than that box office would indicate. There’s some really nice performances here, the last third (weirdly for a DC movie) is when it’s at its strongest and when it gets it right things click in

That’s a bummer, I haven’t gotten to see it yet because it hasn’t arrived in my home town but it looked so much more visually exciting and engaging in comparison to most of the other superhero/blockbuster action films.
