@62imperialcrown: I'd probably ditch the leaky vacuum plumbing and hook it up to a choke knob for manual operational awesomeness.

@PaulE: "That's just crying out for a snowmobile engine transplant." There, fixed that for ya.
@62imperialcrown: What year is it?
@PHIL: It depends on what year the Linc is. That line shed over a thousand lbs a car between '76 and '77 IIRC (without restyling even!).
@Paul Y. thought he was a man, but he was a muffin: Funny, I thought it was parodying itself from the get go.
@Mr.choppers - Delenda Carthago Est: Give it time, the TV coverage will come.
@hatakeboy: Since the only person who can claim it is the Chief Perp, and he's (I assume) not eligible to enter, I'm guessing that means no. Unless he chooses to sell it along to somebody else for $500 (but why would he do that?), in which case I assume it would then be eligible.
@MushyHeirloom: I second this.
@awwwcrap: The "Detroit" races are probably near you, too. They're actually being held in South Haven, which is much closer to Chicago than Detroit.
@brandegee: I don't think it's a Hornet. It has the fenders of the Concord/Eagle/Spirit (the top has a squarer profile than Hornet fenders) with single rectangular headlamps. I suspect it's a Mexican market variation of the Concord, as the grille isn't right for the US Concord.
@Tiberiuswise: As somebody else pointed out, it's a VAM (Vehiculos Automotores Mexicanos, the Mexican branch of AMC). Still way uncool, though. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this stunt ended with him getting severely beaten by several pissed-off owners of newly dented cars.
Ugh. Can you say "Mission Creep"?
@bacon117: If it makes you feel any better, I've seen it in action, and the one on the left does indeed pass the other two (sort of).
@rebeldevil: Or you could pick up a converter at Radio Shack for that or less. Mine has a cigar lighter socket on the front and puts out 20 amps or so.

For some reason, it's easy to believe that Suri's thinking "I wish this finger was a gun, my parents are such douchebags".
@Dave Keane: A stonkin' chunk of metal in the car chassis, and a sizeable neodymium magnet below (but not in contact with) the rolling road surface. Placement would not be as important as magnet strength in this application, so anywhere forward of center-of-wheelbase would prevent direction changes quite nicely. As…
@oddfish: Magnets were definitely my first thought. Occam's Razor would suggest that magnets it is (unless someone can provide a simpler explanation?).
[Shakes head with pity for all who dismiss it as a Vega, as they obviously didn't bother to read past the second sentence of the third paragraph]
@Brian: It's all good. We all make mistakes, right?
