Maleficent wasn’t great but definitely worthier of a sequel than Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland even though that one made even more money than Maleficent.

Coco was super impressive. Beat world’s #8 in straight sets and beat a former French Open champion (ostapenko) and former top 10 player (Petkovic) in the process of winning her first title. After losing in the qualifier and getting in at the last minute because of another player’s injury.

Her improvement even from US Open to this tournament has been impressive. She’s got a very good tennis IQ for somebody that young. Reminds me of Hingis a bit.

I figured everyone who wanted to see this movie already had on the first weekend but I guess I was wrong. I thought the movie was good but to me it has minimal re-watch value so I’d be surprised if a lot of this box office is repeat viewings.
