Oh, believe me, I had a thing for him for a minute… then he disappeared.

I'm not sure anyone can replicate Dancy's twitchy weirdness, which is the big reason he's so hot—I mean, plus all the other stuff.

Wait who's the replacement though

Wait wait wait, James Foley?

Yeah, I think you nailed it: these movies (and the comments sections on their reviews) are a space for people to criticize the nasty Religious Right politics/policies that do determine our lives, but in a space that gives us a sort of distance, or breathing room, to that reality, which can get unbearable to think

I agree with all of that, especially your read of the more vicious, militant movies like Left Behind or, uh, Little Boy, but what's interesting to me is that evangelical movies are criticized for being horrible, as though their horribleness is something notable or surprising. That is, neither of these two movies are

I'm sort of curious why this type of film generates so much hand-wringing, when tons and tons of garbage movies get made all the time. I mean, I have no interest in them, they do look, in fact, like garbage. BUT there's something else at play, right? I've been trying to work through my own distaste for these films in

It was like staring at a fluorescent light on the fritz, totally bizarre.

We should be real though: Sucker Punch gave us Oscar Isaac.

1) I love what movies people decide to identify various actors by. I still think of her as the person from Sucker Punch.

I understand a lot of their policies, sort of, but god Tim League always seems like such an asshole.

Peak Coens, I love this one. The "Blue Letter" scene is amazing, and it's not the dumbest about mass culture capitalism.

I was looking at the header thinking that the dude looked like Heems but could find no reason why he would be in this movie.

I saw a trailer for this that only got to the initial tsunami. I couldn't imagine anyone survived it, based on how it was presented. Pretty excited for this one now that I know it isn't some shaggy dog nonsense that only ever (arguably) worked in "Knowing".
