If the fate of the S60 Cross Country tells us anything, it’s that the world might not be ready for such a vehicle.

I’m sorry but this comment is wrong in every possible way.
Peak origami car design right there
Nice! The last time I was in Las Vegas I looked into how long it would take to get to LA for a little side trip. Cutting the round trip in half would have made it worth it.
It’s in the works and expected to open in 2027... but a high speed train is like fusion power... always 10/20/30 years away. Granted, this looks like it’s actually happening.
A high speed passenger rail line from LA to Vegas would be another interesting option.
I lived in LA and I loved taking the Redline from Los Feliz to Downtown in 30 minutes, and when they opened up the Expo line, it made getting to Santa Monica SOOO much better than driving across the city. Sure, it took 45 minutes more compared to driving with no traffic, but there was ALWAYS traffic, and that drive…
Because planes are inherently less efficient than trains, train travel is more comfortable, and the time penalty for trains VS planes is very small on sub-1000km routes. Ever done Amsterdam-Berlin? You hop in literally in the middle of the city, no security, you chill out for 6 hours 20 minutes and you get out again…
Why do people have such a boner about getting trains in the first place? Is it a lot cheaper fare than planes? Planes can take you from LA to SF today and probably faster than a train could go, and they don’t need to build a straight line through a whole long state to do it. Plus they’re versatile, you can fly them…
Multiple factors. First, we have a habit of outsourcing non-routine public works to consultants and contractors rather than bringing that talent in-house in the US. It’s why municipal utilities run pretty well, municipal transit projects suck because the agency doesn’t know what they want, how feasible ideas are, and…
HAH! You are correct! I’m shocked it’s NOT electric. TBH.
The reference to the Model S makes me think you assume this is an EV. It it not. This is powered by a Ford V8 and the choice of a six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic, and based on that, and the small form factor, I assume weight isn’t going to be much of an issue here.
Did I miss the weight? As we learned from watching that video of the Model S Plaid on the ‘ring, weight is a big deal when it comes to agility. Yes, I realize that most people will never road race these, but if you WANTED to, could you get more than 1 lap on a set of tires?
Mazda is seriously missing out by not offering the AWD Turbo Mazda3 with a manual. I would seriously consider picking one of those up if it was available.
You can try to hold its head underwater until it learns to drink though.
I just say “no.”
Someone who can’t tell the difference between a burnt-out taillight and vehicular homicide probably isn’t going to be the best at spelling words that are right in front of them
Hitting-and-running from a vehicular homicide is not “letting traffic violations go”, but you probably get that trollup.
Just an assumption here, for the other drivers in the past that got leeway, I am assuming they were all white? I have not looked into it, but this driver appears to not be white by his name, so that is probably why they were quick with charges that actually match the crime.
