Ford TFI modules mounted on the distributor fail a lot due to heat, they moved them into the airstream at the front of the engine and put them in a small heat sink with fins.

Not how that works, but your joke is noted.
My colleague’s friend used to have a Mini (the original version) that came with mismatching rear brake cylinders from the factory. He was quite baffled when we was trying to install a repair kits for these. Color coding would have been helpful.
Lightening suspension means there is less mass for the damper to control which allows lighter shocks. Adding lightness always has knock-on effects.
BahamaTodd hit the nail on the head - the color is for part identification. The 230mm X 40mm drum brake was used on the old J-Body, the Ion, HHR, and Cobalt. Different applications called for different braking force leading to different lining materials and wheel cylinder diameters. Color coding was for quick error…
Actually, I don’t mind this. Imagine you have a car with a heavy suspension and light body. Such as the Ford Rangers with the Twin Traction Beams. You hit a bump and the heavy axle moves up and down and the light body is going to follow that axle, regardless of suspension settings.
Since I basically live in junkyards anyway
I think the only reason I ever visit autoblog anymore is to read jalop-alum Murilee’s junkyard series. He’s not telling us about weirdo brake drum parts, though.
Nice work.
The computer on our 92 Dodge Ram pickup was air cooled in a similar manner. Great for cooling... bad for repairs. The PCB either had cracked solder joints, or a bad voltage regulator and the potting made it a pain to deal with.
I think even the early Lean Burn spark control computer was cooled in the same way - those…
Conjecture:
In YouTube I’m following someone dropping a V8 in a Tesla Model S.
I think the loss of the rear door is a pretty major blow,
For some strange reason, I think there needs to be a Garage 54 edition of the Changli Freeman. I don’t mean the guys doing a one-off, say with a Leaf drivetrain, I mean an actual Garage 54-designed production vehicle.
I’ll wait until I can buy a used one*
My guess what the saber-rattling Chinese put in the messages:
I want to know what happens if you do a motor swap with a Harbor Freight Predator engine. Does time stop when you combine the “...almost neck-breaking, and climbs with ease. No longer so slow.” of the additional gearing with a 6.5x increase in power? Or is that like crossing the beams and something that mortals…
Looks like a Scion shrunk in the wash. :)
Jason we’re still waiting details on how or whether one is able to actually register one of these in the US as an LSV or otherwise.
For the people that want to delete emissions equipment in 70s, 80s, and early 90s cars, keep in mind THIS is the order of magnitude you're increasing pollution by. People seem to think taking off the air pump and cats and such just doubles or triples the smog. It doesn't. It goes up by 10 or more times. One catless…
