Will someone please explain to me the concept behind 0% financing for up to 7 or 8 years. How does any dealer or manufacturer come out ahead on this?
Tell that to my local Mitsubishi dealer. Thats what they told me when they refused to do warranty service on my Evo
#1 is totally true. I’ve shared the story here before about a certain Dodge dealer north of Houston who listed a car at $17,988 online, had a price of $18,900 in the window ($1K discount! Woopee! Right?) but then told me the price was $21,700 after I mentioned I was paying cash.
Still happens in Oregon, except the onion is now ironic, as is the fashion of the times.
Now, a gallon of gasoline cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on ‘em. Gimme five bees for a quarter, you’d say.
I’ve been trying to tell people, these tubes clearly ring a service bell inside the nearest residence.
I remember when these tubes were laid out at gas stations; a little bell would ring, alerting the attendant who filled your tank, checked the air in your tires, checked your oil and washed your windshield.
Damn right
But made 10 less horsepower than the interference engine.
I’ve saved a few people at shops by informing them of that tidbit
My story comes from the other side, when I actually worked at the local Advance Auto Parts. To pull into the store where I worked, it was a left turn across a lane of oncoming traffic. When I got to work this fateful day, there was a car sitting diagonally across the driveway waiting to turn left (into the lane I…
it was probably the fridays mozzarella sticks. those things could cure cancer im sure
Current worst experience goes to my now significant other.
Not a parts store, but a dealership parts counter. I had changed the spark plugs on my father’s Ford Expedition, and had no idea that once you break the seal on the coils where it touches the cylinder head, water can get inside and short the coils out. Sure enough, the next time it rained, my father told me he had a…
One of my worst/best experiences started when I put the o-ring on the oil filter in the wrong position in my 2010 Jetta TDI. Didn’t realise it was leaking because at idle it was only a little... at highway speeds, different story. On the way to the airport to pick up my brother to go to a funeral I get the full blown…
So I guess I’m a rare breed...someone who likes to change the oil on their late model BMW. The type, specs, and certifications of the oil required by that particular engine made it difficult to find anywhere else, so off to the dealership I go. At the parts counter, the bloke behind the desk gets the details on the…
At work we use the Snap-On catalog, and it just solidifies my reasoning that Snap-On is just overpriced crap. We use two, an offline version and an online version.
Try working for a manufacturer who seemingly forgets how it built the fucking cars or what parts it put into them. 3 wrong heater supply lines(by the VIN) for a Cummins 2500 before I finally thought to look at a cab-chassis to see if it had the line I was looking for. Sure enough this 2500 had a part out of a 5500,…
I couldn’t do an MKT. The Flex is just so gloriously boxy
