Don’t get me wrong- I think this car is absolutely worth the upkeep. That wonderful AMG motor will put a smile on your face every single time you fire it up. I worry that the next owner could be someone who can’t manage the nagging repairs you have to expect with a car like this. I suspect the seller is in that exact

If I’m not mistaken everything that is needed to make that car stop and go are in fact pretty reliable. Its everything else that you have to worry about. For $5-ish grand I would call this a NP. Sure the top might break at any moment but that’s when you go full commit and add some lightness to that ‘vert.

If you think the ‘72 was large, witness the schnoz on the 1970 model:

The amazing thing is the weight of the old beasts.   They were so huge that you just think they HAD to be about twice as heavy as a normal sized car.  My dad had a 71 Coupe DeVille. Monsterously big car. Trunk big enough to carry a family of 8 and all their luggage. Enough room under the hood for a couple people to

I love the guy who drives a Crown Vic on the Jeep trails around Moab.

Ah, the good old days when you had the choice of 2-door, 4-door, B pillar or no B pillar, vinyl or no vinyl, plus a wagon version, maybe a fastback, and hoods long enough to play hockey on.

Don’t act like this car doesn’t have a lot more space than most people need. This trunk isn’t rated in dead bodies, but in dead refrigerators.

Can we go back to this? I hate SUVs.

People really do overestimate how much capability is required to do the stuff that they think they need an SUV for. Truth is, the majority of cars are grossly overspecified for most use cases. See also people who think it’s impossible to merge onto a highway with less than 250 hp.

Except that if you focus on the driving dynamics the XE and (especially) the Giulia are much more than fine. However nobody cares about driving anymore.

Hmm, Alfa is way more than ‘fine’ with its Giulia and Stelvio. The Giulia was COTY of several mags round the world, it bested the vaunted 3 series in several comparos and even now mid cycle it’s still very competitive. Same could be said for Cadillac. Way above just ‘fine’. The XE is a pretty damn good car also. The

I like the Alpine, but I’d rather have a Lancia Stratos.

The Calberson livery !

Not group 4 but a very rad pictures from this topic :

Make mine an Alpine! Not a hatch, but who cares? There’s plenty of room for your baguettes and Pinot noir up front.

I prefer this flavour of fiery death.

This is something that needs to be done more often.

Maybe not the most legendary since most people don’t know it but the 1.3/1.6L narrow angle V4 of the Lancia Fulvia is an amazing engine. It is an engineering master piece, won rally championships, 90hp out of 1.3L in the 60s aint too shabby plus it sounds mean AF and is a dream to rev. When I go on a long drive in my

I’m a fan of the Lampredi twin cam.
