@Jotsy: To be practical for rifles it would definitely have to be integrated into the gun more. A sensor in the magazine would need to be able to feed data into a display on the gun, so that you didn't need to do anything besides load it. It would also have to be very durable, so dirty, wet, or dropped guns didn't

@Misfit110: Everything is trivial on some level. That is no excuse for ignorance.

@alcablue: Yeah, when you learn all about proper gun handling, the correct terminology really should go with it. Not much I can about it besides continuing to correct people as you did, though.

@deuxhero: There are prototype weapons that have such capabilities, but they are not available for mass reproduction. They are also expensive as hell.

@The Sentient Meat: The point at which a civilian is put into a position where he needs to use a gun is usually the point where it stops being sugar and rainbows. There are plenty of cases of people defending themselves or someone else, simply by having a gun and not needing to use it.

@Misfit110: Popular vote does not change reality. The reality is that they are different things, whether the dictionary you found admits that or not.

@Sugoi: Just call them "mags" for short. Boom, you have the correct term and you saved two syllables.

@alcablue: Ignorance of gun handling and safety is a good reason to stay away. Mixing up magazine and clip is just a simple terminology error, like when they call suppressors 'silencers'.

@Pvt. Jackass: That still leaves the one shown here as very impractical, which was my original point. Having an ammo counter would be nice, but if it's a bulky, after-market piece of work like this, it's unlikely to ever be implemented in any military. If it became a standard feature or accessory that is built into

@Xodin: True, but things like flashlights or laser sights usually sit below the barrel, rather than off to the side. They also aren't standard issue for all weapons, precisely because they aren't practical in many situations, like this counter.

@GamerKT: "That is seems". Either is or seems should be removed, but I can't edit the post anymore.

@GamerKT: I mean for actual use in combat. He was spending a lot of time fiddling with it, it sticks out, it would hard to read in bad lighting situations, and it probably needs batteries, unless there's a hidden solar panel somewhere.

@delagato: "How Egypt Turned Off the Internet" - not "Why". It's focusing on the tech side of things, as this is a tech blog. They do get into politics on occasion, but that wasn't the focus here.

@shobz: That implies it ever was a safe place to live in. Life is dangerous.

@SorciaMacnasty: You little punk! When I find you, I'm gonna strangle you with your own intestines!

@onestrawplz: Well said. I've never liked either one.

@BioXhazard: No kidding. It's just a damn rat. They're like 100 times bigger than it, what are they afraid of?

That is seems ridiculously impractical, but very cool.

@MysticStick: You sicken me with your practical methods. I want expensive, impractical technology, dammit!
