Not until people stop pre-ordering or buying on day one. Hell, it’s cheaper to release a game with bugs and have the players play test it for you than to do proper beta testing. So until there’s consequences for doing so, they’ll keep doing it.

Good point, the only upcoming game I have preordered for the rest of the year is Super Mario Maker, I know it will be solid Day 1.

A third party company could step in ... like some sort of elite QA tester group.
A game that does not pass their approval does not get their “seal of quality”

It’s fatigue because Ubisoft can’t understand the significance of timing. When a title releases once a year, either the project has a very large team on it, or they are just working to meet business expectations. Any title of late that gets annual releases is just a cash cow. Put a couple of years between releases,

As a former QA tester for Sony, I can say that a lot of these problems stem from the people controlling the money, rather than the QA testers/process. I have seen so many bugs get waived because they’re seen as “minor”, or would “take too long to fix” and end up getting released into the wild. To producers and

It’s sad that this is a rarity nowadays. But then again, Nintendo has yet to venture into GotY re-release territory. I wonder if they’ll do this with Smash eventually.

I like to buy things day one because its whats everyones talking about right now. Its nice to get the refrences and be in the know. Also in a few weeks the gaming community will collectively decide its been out ‘long enough’ and start dropping spoilers left right and center.

Sony and Microsoft need to follow what Valve did - enable refund without questions. Look at Warner Bros, finally ‘realized’ releasing shitty port of a game is actually damaging their reputation that they have to pull Batman off the shelves, few months ago Mortal Kombat X sure didn’t make them realized that.

Thank you for being one of two people to mention Gunpei Yokoi’s name.

Would that cause lines to show up in the eyepieces? The left eyepiece on my VB has lines in it which makes it basicalyl unplayable. No clue how it happened because I’ve had it since it was new (I still remember buying it on clearance at Toys R Us for like $40) and it’s never been abused or knocked around.

I bet Gunpei would have made it really great had he been given the time. When I think of this I sort of get bummed out because I think of the bigger picture of what else Yokoi could have done had he lived past the ‘90s. Truly a visionary and I’m especially thankful he brought us Metroid!

I still want that Wario Land on the 3DS. They should release in on the eShop for the anniversary. I would even be happy with a revamped version in color.

Maybe Nintendo can celebrate by releasing Virtual Boy games on the Virtual Console? :)

Mario Clash, Red Alarm, Wario Land, Teleroboxer, and my favorite version of Mario Tennis. Yep- the Virtual Boy was an awesome little system. I know what I'm playing after work tonight :)

“Satoru Iwata,” I read aloud, “the president and CEO of Nintendo for more than a decade, has died at the age of 55.”

Maggie is a big jerk

Wow, that brought back some memories as a kid secretly playing Pokemon in 4th grade lol.

Better nickname: Super Saiyan Sabretooth.
