I always thought it was funny that this was a strike team, but in the movie, it looks like a bunch of dudes were just given guns and they have no idea which way to point them... but that’s more of a cinematic issue than anything else. Realistic military techniques, like holding a rifle, didn’t catch up to Hollywood…

I feel like they can say anyone on the strike team was from the new EU and be like, well of course they were, nobody mentioned it because obviously it was them, who else were they going to send? some random dudes with no identity?

In universe there’s no reason to keep talking about Rex if everyone knows who he is. That sort of thing is a trick to keep the viewers updated. I’m reminded of a Rick and Morty analysis video I just saw...explaining a costume change after a commercial break:
