I’ve owned three E30s, an E36, and (now) an E82. The throw on the E30s was abysmal. A friend of mine had a short-shift kit in his (blown) 318iS, and had I kept my last E30, I probably would have gone that route. The E36 had a perfectly fine shift ratio, on the other hand (but was rather boring in comparison to the

“I don’t care about how much I get paid; I’m in an industry where we’re overcompensated for the work we do.”

Just like my friend who gets blackout drunk at weddings, they should really stop doing it if they don’t want people to keep bringing it up.

and tastiest!

Aaaaaand I would still buy it with the stick. If I am going to go careening in a group of people at cars and coffee, I want to be fully engaged.

True story: About ten years ago, I found myself in conversation with a woman who was married to an obscenely rich banker (he was also particularly influential, as head of his sector’s national association). She was clearly very distressed as she described to me the shame she felt as she had pulled up to meet some

The stock market literally, just crashed a few years ago. How’s that work out?

Ok, to start off the root of the problem here was a bad oil pump. He should have parked it as soon as he noticed a drop in oil pressure. Now he had a 50/50 chance that the oil pump was on its way out or the oil pressure sensor in it had gone bad. The sensor is around $30 at an auto parts store (I know I replaced one

If a hole is burned in a piston, it’s usually from a lean burn. With too much oxygen for the available fuel, the oxygen finds fuel elsewhere. In the combustion chamber, the options are the iron head, the iron cylinder, or the aluminum piston. The aluminum piston loses.

Purely conjecture, but I’d guess a bad injector.

An apt comparison, really. Because that’s about the extent of the insanity just enacted by the FCC.

The HP wars are no fun anymore.

When I bought my G8 used, it came with a wad of the post-recall keys. I bought a switchblade key from a vendor, cut up one of my fixed keys to get the blade out. A little filing, a little trimming, a little programming, and voila!

Totally agree with you Mike. I attempt to as many fixes as possible myself, the internet has a pluthera of guides, diys, and what not to do. However there is occasionally a repair I either font have the tools for, or the space where a mechanic is required. There are great mechanics out there, of course finding one can

I have to agree, there are some pretty hack mechanics out there, but there are also some truly outstanding ones.

2012 Camaro owner here... I tried to bump the key with my knee and it wasn’t physically impossible for me. I will not give up my switchblade key for their half ass “fix.”

Very true, I have an 11 Camaro and I tried to see if I can turn the key with my knee and failed. I had a rented Camaro with the “fixed” key and it annoyingly dangled on my leg the whole time. There are some recall fixes which are a knee jerk reaction and some which actually do matter. If memory serves me the Camaro
