Yeah. Last time I had a recall fixed (door latch) they broke two other things in the process. Then they proceeded to tell me “oh that was already like that” and it’ll cost $400 to fix.

isn’t it crazy how buying a haynes manual pays for itself about 1000 times over? or even googling, or youtube? i’m surprised more mechanics aren’t worried about losing business, or being straight with their customers as they should be with the amount of information that’s out there

I installed an aftermarket nav unit into my E39 a few years ago, which required running some cable from the trunk to the dash. Nothing too complicated, just a matter of getting it under the plastic trim pieces around the carpet. Some time after that, I hit 100k miles and it was time to replace the shocks and struts.

Long ago, I lost all faith in mechanics when they screwed something up, jury rigged up a fix without consulting me, ...

I think most people would take exception with this part of the proposal:

And don’t forget the Motec System Exhaust...

What do you mean? He never had him, he never had his car.

Probably not as bad as ripping apart the block and replacing the piston rings the previous owner fried.

It took too long so they ended up having one sent overnight from Japan.

Nice car to stand by.

has anyone found out how long it took to fix those welds on the intake?

I’m a big fan of a 1:10 power:weight ratio. Usually comes out around 300 hp.

From people who allegedly didn’t read the post...

Isn’t the reason reporters use allegedly so they can’t be sued for libel? I understand the frustration but the way our legal system works we have to give perpetrators their day in court

But what if I have inboard brakes?

Was I the only one who expected more driving in the movie? I was kind of disappointed. The driving in Ronin was better and more of it, a movie that wasn’t marketed for it’s driving.
